Here are a couple of fine pieces of concept art from the game I'm making with the amazing folks at Double Fine. I'm so excited. This is an idea that has been in my head for a long long long time. It predates Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island. It's a game that needed to be made.

Gilbert and Schafer together again? Awesome!

On the off chance Dave Grossman is reading this, any chance you can complete the trio? ;)

Yeah, I have no idea what this could be from those characters. They don't seem to suggest any particular time or place together. Separately, yeah, but not together.

    Isn't it obvious?

    ...

    It's just another GTA clone.

    Bah. Pass!

Awesome! I sure hope this won't be exclusively on consoles though.
the amazing folks at Double Fine
    Aww shit.

Really hope it'll be on PC. I know it's naive to say this, but it's not exactly written in stone that it won't.

I don't care what it's about... I wanna preorder right now.

It's a storyless kinect party game that requires at least 2 people to play!

Dan and Kevin only loan me out for birthday parties and bar mitzvahs. But I'll be looking forward to the game!

Well, Psychonauts and Costume Quest are both available on PC, and if this is an adventure game, aka a game that is generally designed with PC in mind, I'd imagine it would be on PC. Then again, they may go the opposite direction and design an adventure game that fits better on consoles....aww shit.

Costume Quest recently came out for PC. Go buy it and help show them the error of their ways! It's not hard to believe that Stacking and Trenched could follow suit.

So nobody was aware that Ron Gilbert joined Double Fine about a year ago after leaving Hothead games?
  • edited November 2011
Yeah... I knew.. but that was the last news I heard.

This looks promising. I want it.

It's the first time that we've actually seen any proof of his presence there; the first time anything's really been publicized in regards to the project he's working on.

Before now, for all we knew, we could have merely been hoodwinked into believing that something as wonderful as this collaboration was actually taking place.

Yay! That first piece of concept art looks like the Librarian from Phatt Island.

Any guesses on what genre it'll be? I want to say pure adventure game, but perhaps it'll be a bit of a platformer, since it's Double Fine?

It's just that everyone seems surprised and excited all the sudden about Tim and Ron working together again, which I thought was pretty obvious.

Oh man, time to place the bets! I got 50 saying it's a 2D Point-and-click-'em-up! No 51, 51! I'm different! Anyone else have their speculation for what this game is and/or what it might be about?

I think you should prepare yourself to see this sort of thing EVERY time there is new news.

I hope it's better than DeathSpank. I'm excited though, the character designs look pretty promising
