Wizard of OZ Graphic Novels!

edited December 2011 in General Chat
Has anyone seen these? I just discovered that Marvel comics is releasing all of the wizard of oz books in graphic novel form... and they've been doing it since 2008!! They're currently releasing the 4th book (dorothy and the wizard in oz) in 8 comic volumes...

Here's a link to the amazon page with the first book "The Wonderful Wizard of OZ" http://www.amazon.com/Wonderful-Wizard-Oz-Graphic-Novel/dp/0785145907/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323646080&sr=8-1

And some images from the first book http://media.comics.ign.com/media/143/14305141/imgs_1.html

They're beautiful approx. 200 page hardback volumes, full color, and best of all, they are completly faithful to the original material, meaning not a single word has been added to make them "better"

I just bought all 3 volumes that are currently in hardback, and I promise you, I'll treasure them for the rest of my life! wether or not they'll continue on to do the non-oz books, or the novels by Ruth Plumly Thompson, John R. Neil, and other various official OZ chroniclers. I don't know, but I'm excited to find out!

I have the first volume, and the original monthly comic books. Beautiful adaptation.

Everyone I told about them were like "Oh cool" and then I actually showed them the book and they're like "OMG WOW!" Nobody expects a comic adaptation to be beautiful, and that's exactly what it is!

As long as they're faithful to the original material and not dark takes on Oz. I'm sick and tired of 'mature' (read:immature) takes on fairy tales.
