Puzzle Agent (Steam Downloaded) menu Problems

I just downloaded Puzzle Agent from Steam two days ago, and I finally had time to run it today, and I encountered some problems before even getting the game off the ground. I thought that the game was running too loudly, and I was talking to friends through IM. However, when I went to the Settings option under the main menu, none of the sound settings were adjustable, and half of the graphics settings were not appearing either. I thought I might have just had an unlucky start, so I wanted to close the game to relaunch it, but when i went to the quit screen, there was no option to actually quit the game. I'm worried that i may have either had a bad download from steam, or the game I downloaded is out of date and I missed some patches that may have fixed these problems, can anyone help me?

(PS. my laptop specs are well within the range listed, though my Graphics Card is an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD that came Pre-installed)

Well the game runs, and runs well. All the files are verified, and I figured out how to guess where all the buttons are. As I was writing this response, I went through and double checked, and there are still no visible buttons under the Quit Menu or a visible button for the Windowed View, and there are no sliders for the Music, Voice, or Sound customization on the sound menu. I've managed to make it work, but it might be a problem for others who don't have the patience to work with what they have, and I'm still worried that there may be some problem in the game that might occur later.

Would you please post a dxdiag log?

Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.

Now click on the button that says "save all information".
It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

Open the file and press Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+C to copy the contents, and paste them in a reply by pressing CTRL-V.
Sometimes the Forums spam filter catches long posts like this. Don't worry, we can still see them and make them visible.

I'm having similar but a bit different problem. When I start the game, I only see black screen except for the Telltale Inc. etc. text at the bottom. Menu is just black screen as well but I can see play game, settings and quit, but no cursor or nothing to click them with. I managed to click the buttons by using alt+enter (the cursor still dissapears once I move it on the game window), but each of the options just opens blank submenu - I can't see anything.

Puzzle Agent 1 worked well for me, though I didn't buy it through Steam.

It is probably an Intel graphics problem. Some of TTGs games work fine on some Intel graphic chips, but it's generally not recommended.

Your best chance is to play on a computer with an amd or nvidia graphics chip, if possible.
