Can't install Sam & Max Seasons 1+2 on Windows 7?

I just got a new Windows 7 laptop and the Sam & Max Seasons 1 and 2 Collector's DVDs. However, when I put the discs in to try and install the games, I get these two errors...

"Error: Error accessing the system registry"
followed by
"Error: Unexpected error; quitting"

I googled this and apparently this was an issue with Vista, not Windows 7. I'm also running under the administrator account, being as there's only one account, but I'm still having this problem.
Help would really be appreciated! Thank you!

    It does sound like a missing privileges issue nevertheless.

    Do you get the UAC Prompt when running the setup.exe, and if so, have you confirmed it?

    Otherwise, have you tried right-clicking the "setup.exe" on the DVDs and selecting "run as administrator"?

    The setup.exe on the DVDs themselves worked fine! Guess it was just some weird issue with the autoplay.
