[BTTF] Episode 2 Problems

I recently purchased this game on Steam and I loved Episode 1, but when I try and play Episode 2 it doesn't work properly. Everything seems normal until I start a New Game, the audio plays normally and the cursor and the HUD at the top of the screen appear, but the screen itself is completely black. At first I thought this was simply part of the game but after looking up info it's an actual problem.

I'm not sure what could be causing it since Episode 1 ran fine, though I haven't tried any of the other Episodes yet.

    Try adjusting the shadows. Let me know if it doesn't work.

    Sorry but how do I do that? I see the Shadow Quality option but under settings, but it's grayed out so I can't interact with it
