I mean, really... add an "E" at the end and that's it??

I know I based some of my works on various known franchises... but this is just ridiculous.

Eh. Well if LucasArts ain't doin' it, why shouldn't someone else?

...a little research reveals this to be a spin-off from So Blonde, so it's not entirely unoriginal.

Eh. There is more than a passing resemblance to Monkey Island, but not enough to constitute a full-out plagiarism. It seems a lot less...silly, for starters. And besides, it's not like LucasArts is doing any MI stuff themselves.

Thanks for reminding me I need to get back to work on MI2 later, by the way.

    Is this game any good?
  • edited January 2012
It's not out yet, so we don't know. I hear it got pushed back to February because the developers listened to fan feedback about the voicework and redid some stuff, which is actually kinda promising.

I'd imagine it plays quite similarly to So Blonde though, since that's what it's a spin-off from.

    Oh god the audio.

I stopped watching after just a few seconds.

In case you don't know, I play with headphones on.

So Blonde was "OK" nothing special... I do not imagine this being better than the first one.. but BOTH borrow from MI.

LucasArts owns the rights to Monkey Island and Guybrush Threepwood, it doesn't own the exclusive rights to adventure games and pirates. That's like saying Call of Duty plagiarized Wolfenstein for being an FPS where you fight Nazis.

After reading this thread, I've come to the conclusion that no one else knows what Captain Morgan is(the OP reference). Interesting.

Well it's definitely not ripping off a rum.

...Well the "E" reference sure isn't implying a rip off of "the golden turtl", now is it?

My first reaction was to think the OP meant plagiarizing Captain Morgan spiced rum. Then I realized how silly that sounded, so I decided that (being that the main character is female) the OP really meant Morgan LeFlay.

And why hasn't Capcom sued Sega for stealing their idea of a platformer where a blue guy fights a robot-building mad scientist?

Yeah. I still think it sounds funny(captain morgane) in that context. I just thought someone would have at least mentioned it though. I was kind of baiting there but no one took it. Oh well. I almost want to play it just to hear people call you "captain morgane".

Except Captain Morgan was a real guy so even if they were intentionally referencing the rum (and of course they were) it isn't plagiarism.

I hated So Blonde. This is a definite "stay the hell away" for me.

    ugh... yeah. I'm out.

@Blank...well that's what they would say anyway. It's a bit up in the air. It's a pretty big coincidence if it is(the MI comparisons).

Heh... So it's just a coincidence... Weird. I suppose I just miss Monkey Island and started seeing things. :p

There have been a few games that wanted you to be reminded of MI that I have bought over the years some of them are good some are not.

I'm just wondering now what plagiarism smells like.

    Familiar, yet stinky.

They're too busy devouring the precious tears of Mega Man fans everywhere that they caused over the past year or so.

Monkey Island is a rip-off of Donkey Island.
