L&O - Game will not even run!

Trying to run on Windows 7 64bit

When I double click the Icon the game will not start at all. I have tried all combinations of compatability and nothing helps.

Any ideas what to do next? or is this just yet another game that does not work on Windows 7 despite it supposed to be able to !!:mad:

    Do you mean nothing happens when you double click the icon?
    Does the LawAndOrder101.exe show up in the Task Manager?
    Have you tried starting LawAndOrder101.exe directly from the install folder?

    Yup when I click the icon the cursor 'circle' spins for 2 seconds and nothing happens. Nothing running in the task manager relating to the .exe file and yes I have tried running direct from the install folder too.

    Just to add the DX was installed and I also updated DX to make sure its fully updated but still no luck

    Are you running the game as an administrator?

    Could you please try running the game during a clean boot?

    Booting clean in Windows Vista / 7:
    1. Click Start --> Type msconfig --> Press Enter
    2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
    3. Uncheck Load Startup Items
    4. Select the Services tab
    5. Check Hide all Microsoft services
    6. Click Disable all
    7. If running the game on Steam, re-check the "Steam Client Service"
    8. Click on OK
    9. Click Restart.
    10. After reboot, run the game to see if it works.

    After performing the necessary steps, restore your system by doing the following:

    1. Click Start --> Type msconfig --> Press Enter
    2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    3. Click Ok
    4. Click Yes, when asked to restart your computer

    Just rang Compatability Troubleshooter and get the error message "incompatible application" so maybe it just wont run on Windows 7 64bit..??

    It works fine on Win7 64 on my system.
    Did you try the clean boot too?

    Yup clean boot several times even using a compatability install but still nothing

    I don't really know what's going on there yet.
    Would you please post your dxdiag info?

    Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
    Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.

    Now click on the button that says "save all information".
    It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

    Open the file and press Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+C to copy the contents, and paste them in a reply by pressing CTRL-V.

    Unfortunately, that system doesn't meet the minimum requirements for the game. Updating to the latest video card drivers from Intel may help, but I wouldn't be able to guarantee that the game would be playable even if it did load. The Intel i5 and i7 chipsets are great for general desktop usage, but they're simply not meant for 3D gaming.

    Your Notebook seems to have an NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M too. Some Notebooks use Nvidia Optimus to switch between graphics cards, and i think i had a case once where that caused problems.

    You should be able to force it to use the Nvidia card in the Nvidia control panel.

    You're welcome.
    Meanwhile i found out, that you should be able to create a graphics profile for the game, which might get it running on your new laptop:
    - Start the Nvidia Control Panel
    - Select "Manage 3D Settings"
    - Open the "Program Settings" Tab
    - Click "Add" and select the LawAndOrder101.exe in the install folder
    - Select "High-performance NVIDIA processor" in the drop down list
