SBCG4AP Sound stuttering

This is a unique problem I haven't seen before, but persists on all 5 episodes of SBCG4AP. I am running the game off of the DVD release. Background music and sound effects (ex: clicking) play fine, but dialogue is choppy. For example: highlighting "Save/Load" on the main menu results in Strong Bad saying "..ayve Load. oad." Cutscene and gameplay audio is much worse, with characters talking over each other or stopping before they're finished. What can I do to fix this?

Processor: Intel core duo p8600 @ 2.40 GHz

    Please post your dxdiaig info:

    dxdiag
    Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
    Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.

    Now click on the button that says "save all information".
    It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

    Open the file and press Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+C to copy the contents, and paste them in a reply by pressing CTRL-V.

    Your drivers are quite old, and i would try updating them. You can download the new audio and video drivers for your Notebook here.

    Thanks for your help. However, I've updated my drivers and the problem persists.

    Playing the game now, the sound still stutters and Marzipan's eyes no longer show up since updating my video driver.

    That's odd. I wonder if it is an issue with the SRS Filter driver, which tries to calculate surround sound.
    I don't know the best way to disable it, so here are a few things you could try individually:

    1. Please try running the game during a clean boot (see below)
    2. If that doesn't help, you can try setting IDT to your default sound card instead of SRS
    3. Finally you could try what happens if you uninstall the SRS driver completely.

    Booting clean in Windows XP:
    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type msconfig --> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
    3. Uncheck Process SYSTEM.INI file
    4. Uncheck Process WIN.INI file
    5. Uncheck Load Startup Items
    6. Click on the Services tab
    7. At the bottom, check Hide All Microsoft Services
    8. Click Disable All
    9. If running the game on Steam, re-check the "Steam Client Service"
    10. Click OK
    11. Click Restart
    12. After reboot, run the game to see if it works.

    After performing the necessary steps, restore your system by doing the following:

    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type msconfig--> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    3. Click OK
    4. Click YES, when asked to restart your computer
