Bought game off of steam, and it doesnt work!

I bought this game off of steam, and whenever I get a black screen, and it eventually says account is not authorized to launch it. Why won't this work? Shouldn't it work since I got it off of steam?

    Which game have you bought off Steam, and have you asked Steam about it?
