To be fair, looking back, while BTTF is bad, I do think everyone, including myself, was quick to rip everyone at the company apart for it. I think it was part of the gameless fever we were getting waiting for another game like Monkey Island and Strong Bad to come along. I think another game like Tales will come along for the company eventually.
If you say so, but I had never heard of it before the game was being considered.
Same, but now my friends all say its one of their favorite tv shows. However, I still think the game will be obscure enough since my friends then say "There's a comic based off of it now?", so I don't think they will find out about the game if the audience knows it solely from the tv show.

And yet, BTTF was supposedly (or so they say) TTG's highest selling game up to that point.
Money talks, so it doesn't matter if people bitch at the company for their games, so long as the company keeps making money.
This is to say that, indeed "popular" doesn't mean "best quality," but I don't think TTG cares about quality anymore.
I, for one, would like to know who at the company is primarily responsible for the emergence of the increasing amount of tripe int their games ("tripe" referring both to occurrence of bugs/glitches/performance issues and the focus-shift to the casual market by way of lack-of-choice and ease-of-difficulty.)
If BTTF really did sell so well, it's because it appealed to people's nostalgia and need for more BTTF not because it's a good game. Also good sales doesn't necessarily mean that people loved the game. For instance, I pre-ordered it and was painfully disappointed. Jurassic Park probably also would have been the best selling game to date if it was the first one before BTTF.
If not for you interesting people, I would have been long gone.
(Plus I probably have some kind of light OCD where everytime I'm on a PC I have to check the exact same sites for updates, even when I'm working!)
Same here on both accounts. This is a pretty good source for game related news and opinions, though I do miss Rather Dashing. I was keeping up with the Double Fine forums for a week or so too, but the huge amount of undisciplined posters and apparent lack of moderators made those forums a lost cause for me.

I was originally going to try to keep up with those forums and become a part of the community during the process of the Double Fine Adventure development, but was instantly annoyed by the nature of most of the posts there. I might try to settle in there once things die down a bit, but for now it's just another one of those talk-over-the-top-of-each other forums where people just try to out-post each other. I can't stand that sort of environment.

There are many TV shows I've never heard of that are popular but that's mostly because I could care less about TV.
