No Sound on BTTF

I've just downloaded and installed the PC version of BTTF episodes 1-5 but have no sound at all on any of the games.

Settings all look okay and sound on everything else works okay, anyone got any ideas?

Can you provide me with a DXDiag file, please?

To send a DXDiag, click the Start menu, click Run, and then type in DXDiag and press enter. After it loads, click Save All Information and save the file where you'll be able to easily find it. Open the file and then press Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+C to copy the contents of the file, and then include that in a reply.

Have you tried updating your audio drivers? Your current drivers are about three years old. Also, you're certain you don't have the volume muted either in the game or in the Windows sound mixer, correct?

The sound in Windows 7 and ALL other games works fine. There appears to be only one place you can set the sound in BTTF which is the setup menu screen. The sound hasn't worked since the first installation two weeks ago.

The latest drivers on the Creative website are dated Jul 2009 for my card. But to be thorough I have updated them anyway.

All of the card settings are at default. I never change them.

....and guess what? Still no sound in any episode of BTTF.

Here's one thing you could try:
1. Enter "Sound" in the start menu to open the sound dialog. You should see a list of your sound devices.
2. Disable all sound devices except the one you want to use. A right click on a device should show that option.

Keep the sound dialog open, and start the game. Press alt-enter to put it into windowed mode. Make sure to pick a small enough resolution in the game so you can see both the game and sound dialog at once.

Now start a new game to see if you can hear sound in the intro sequence.

If you can't hear it, look into the Sound dialog, but don't click outside the game window. The game only runs when it has focus.
There's an area right to your sound device, that should show green squares to indicate sound playback.
Do you see any activity there every few seconds?
