PC Controls for using items?

I keep getting the walkie talkie icon on the left side of my screen but can't figure out how to use it on the PC version. anyone know?

    I don't believe you can "use" it, it's just a list of items you currently have that you can use to interact with certain events to continue the story.

    In the PC version though if you go to controls in the options its shows an xBox controller though and there is no way to tell :/
