Mailed steam key

edited June 2012 in The Walking Dead
Although I think it's awesome you guys react so quickly to the problems that surfaced, I really don't want to give Steam their cut if I don't need to. I've already gotten a key, but will they still get it if I don't redeem it?

I would also Like to know this.

If I don't use the steam key (when I get one) Can I still get my TTG Download??

As the key already exists I would imagine Steam has already got 'their cut'. Redeeming it or not probably doesn't make a difference.

The Steam keys just let you download the game from the Steam client if you want to play it today. If you don't mind waiting, you'll still be able to download the game from your My Telltale games list once it's out.

You'll also be able to download the game from Telltale's site once it's out even if you do use the Steam key.

I'm more interested in the money question actually, the reason I ordered on Telltales site is because all of it would go to Telltale.

No, those keys are separate from the purchase made through our store, so your purchase was with us only.

Um, I'm new here, but I was wondering when I'd receive my steam code. Hey everybody. :)

I got an email sending me the steam key and letting me know that the game will still be available to DL from the site. That was a classy thing to do, when they did not have to.

The game is great. ty TTG, I was wrong about you guys.

Look at the post date. Anyone that buys the game after April 26th direct from Telltale doesn't need a key, just log into your TTG account and look at your past purchases. You should be able to download it from there.

the Steam Keys were for people that pre-ordered from TTG direct and TTG had a server issue that delayed their release. Since the problem took significantly longer than they anticipated and they weren't sure when things would be fixed, they negotiated something with Valve-Steam.

TTG didn't give away steam keys. They sent them out to customers that they didn't want to disappoint.

As I have said in the past, I fully expect to not receive a steam key for episode 2 (barring a repeat of the server issue). But that is because I pre-ordered through TTG and not steam. For those that have installed the steam client and have to transition to the TTG version, don't worry about your saved game progress. Both clients save to and use the same location for that.
