any of you guys have super powers....in your dreams?

edited June 2011 in General Chat
An odd question to ask, but I am curious since I,myself have a few dreams where I have one particular superpower that seems consistenr. In those dreams, I have the power to turn into a metal ball(like Samus in metroid) except it floats rather than moves on the ground. This is strange since my dreams are normally non consistent in regards to whatever. However, when it comes to this, it is consistent for the most part; the only unconsistencies is that it was word activated in my eariler dreams and this ability allowed me to go though parallel worlds or stop time (l don't remember.)

And no, I am not crazy. Just curious if anyone has a consistent power in their dreams like flying or whatever.

I can't recall ever having a power in my dreams, but then again I don't often dream.

The other forum I go to daily, www.ld4all.com, has tons of great info on things like dream powers and lucid dreaming, you can probably find all the info on dreams you could ever want there.

I used to have dreams where I could walk on invisible stairs. I haven't had a dream like that in a long time though.

Occasionally, I can fly - or jump really high and long - in my dreams. I'll just take in the scenery (often hopping from building to building), and it's just plain fun.

Something other that I notice a lot in my dreams is that I'll take existing environments (school buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, shops, etc.) and turn them into much grander structures/buildings. When I wake up, I'm always rather disappointed that the buildings in real life are not as cool as they're in my dreams.

I used to fall down stairs in my dreams... but they were visible, so I guess that doesn't count as a superpower.

I think I sometimes fly. But, like AdamG, I do not normally "dream"... or at least I don't remember my dreams when I wake up.

I can relate. I have those dreams where the existing enviornment is always different and unfamilar than the ones in real life. I too, get disappointed since the ones in the dreams are new and unfamiliar, making them better.

When I dream I don't recall ever having superpowers. Every three or four months, though, I do have a week where I remember my dreams and they're usually nightmares. Each night gets worse than the night before until suddenly it's gone. The first night is tame...unusual and memorable. Then they build until it's a "jerk you out of sleep" type of dream. I haven't figured out if it's a stress thing or what, but without fail it happens in 3-4 month intervals.

I never used to dream, but lately I've just been having really surreal dreams (think along the lines of driving skillfully down a busy motorway at top speed and then realising I don't know how to drive, or going into a bank to get free coffee, and finding they stopped the service after it was abused by people not using the bank for anything but the coffee (after having a long drawn out Final Fantasy style battle with people I vaguely remember from Primary School)).

I've never really had superpowers, although in the Coffee/Bank dream I did randomly warp to an underground base with a retired superhero who let me have a go at a flying machine powered by pulling out self-replenishing rolls of toilet paper from a hole near where the arms wrapped round (and nearly crashing into a neighbour's car in the process).
I might go into some other dreams I've had later (the flying bus is a good one), but this post is a bad enough wall of text as it is =P.

What's weird is how much detail I can remember from some of the dreams. I very rarely remember faces, but I remember a lot of other things, such as the colour of the superhero's suit (purple and green, for anyone wondering).

Oh yeah, I get that too! I can't drive, but I'll have dreams where I go almost everywhere by car, and I drive really well too. Also, while not really a super power, I find myself competing in cycling races in my dreams sometimes, although I'm by no means a cyclist in real life. I do watch cycling on TV a lot though, so that may contribute to the dreams.

I get driving dreams as well, even though I don't have a car, and never did. The dreams are strange, because I'm always in a very large vehicle, like an SUV or a pickup, and the dream cars always have very bad suspension... :S Feels like I'm driving on Jell-O. :P

Lol... that’s a fantastic title for a thread... when I first read it I thought you were just putting everyone down...

Any of you guys ever had a girlfriend... in your dreams! freakin losers!

I think more threads should antagonize people for no apparent reason

I was once jupming over skyscrapers like a superRrabbit.

I only have super powers in lucid dreams, which I only have on rare occasions.

I never thought about reading the title that way. LOL

Then again, this isn't the first time that somethine like this happened.

I remember my original heading I have for my Myspace profile was something like confused young adult trying to find himself. When I showed it to my eldest brother, he was pissed. Confused as in being a person who is in his early 20s and doesn't know what to do with his life.

He complained that I should immediately change the headline since people will think that I am confused as in sexually confused, which I assure you I am not; I like the opposite sex. So I changed it.

I guess this is why this guy, who at the time was my friend and was on my myspace friends list, was hitting on me and asking me to "do" stuff with him. I was disgusted when he asked me it and no, I didn't do the nasty with him.

Almost every dream I have is a lucid dream. Very rarely do I have dreams i don't remember. I never have bad dreams either. Anyway, here's my dream powers:

Breath under water, (recently discovered) kamehameha, control the elements, telekinesis, I can fly, transform,super-strength, and shape atoms into anything I want...

And for some reason someone's always trying to kill me?

Why the hell did you add, "in your dreams"? That ruined this thread.

I remember once I had a dream which basically made me the guy out of Altered Beast.

Going around punching and kicking stuff in my way, being "welcome to your doom"ed by Justin Beiber, turning into the heavy with golden boxing gloves and eating Sandvich to gain health.

...okay so it was a weird dream!

Disclaimer so the government doesn't abduct me: All below is from my dreams... yep.

I can fly, and I have teleported myself from one place to another. I can also think of just about anyone, and they appear in front of me. Life is good...

I never have to go #2 in my dreams. Oh yeah.

I once had a dream where I have the power to light and extinguish this one candle. It doesn't sound much in real life, I know, but in the world where my dream takes place, it is the most important thing that has ever existed. When I turn off the candle, color and sound and shape and laws blend and swap and change... I don't really know how to describe it. Anyway, the only way to keep things in the world in order is by keeping the light on all the time. However, my powers are limited, and when the world starts to blend into itself, things start to leak. Things that can only be described as wrong. And they keep calling my name, but it's not my real name, but for some reason I always respond when I hear it.

Also, once, I dreamt that I can fly. And then I flew to my friend's house and we ate cake.

Mostly I dream I have the power to turn into something, like a Dragon, a Werewolf or some other kind of monster.

I actually have the grand ability to- Oh, 'in your dreams'. Right, of course that's what you intended to ask.

I've had dreams where I've had telekinetic abilities and the power of teleportation. For some reason, I never realise I have them until I use them by accident. I suppose that's how all superhero movies start and my dreams are no exception.

...That sounds like one amazing power. Consider me jealous.

I often have dreams that I can fly, or there is some superhero element involved in them yes... But at some point in the dream I realize it isnt real... so I fall out of the sky or lose my powers or some other such thing, and I wake up pissed off. ;)

I once had a dream where I had generic powers and went on a rampage destroying armies and buildings etc.

In my fantasy, I don't really have superpowers, other than the power to be AWESOME, but I'm a dimension hopper, working for an agency or something to help out others in need in parallel universes. You see, once you have superpowers, these powers won't be as awesome anymore, since you yourself have them. However, if you live in a world that's full of heroes, you can wonder in awe as you walk around doing your job, saving the world from whatever they need being saved from.

But in my dreams I have the power of dying. Or something. Oh, and everything is a video game. Especially zombie apocalypses. I have yet to see a zombie apocalypse dream that's not a video game.

Does having the ability to use anything and anybody as a shield count?

However the majority of the time, in my dreams, I am mentally and physically disabled. A typical dream might involve running 1/3th the speed of an old lady, out to kill me, and also losing my wallet.

I am a sitting duck, and everyone and everything is out to get me.

Oh god the way that was worded made me burst into laughter

I thought I'd already responded here, but apparently not. Anyway, I usually don't have super powers in my dreams. My dreams are either really boring and about school, really weird and I never remember them, or extremely terrifying and about school.

Though there was one time when I was super fast...or maybe everyone else was really slow. Either one. It was really awesome though. So awesome, in fact, that my subconscious has blockaded it out of my memory and prevented me from ever having that dream again.

I don't remember most of my dreams, but I've dreamt about these powers several times:

Super floaty moon jumping (while on Earth)
    Flying
    Morphing

I don't often realize I'm dreaming when I dream. However, at least twice I can remember realizing that I was dreaming and then deciding that, since it was my dream, I could do whatever I wanted including being able to fly.

I am, as many of you already know, the local superhero for the Telltale Forums. Pointing Out the obvious because nobody else can/wants to.

I did, however, once have a dream where I could fly. Then I woke up and I found out that all I actually did during that dream was grow a stupid pair of wings. These things tickle and make it a pain to sit in a chair with a back. They look awesome though.

I always dream that i was working which i worked daytime...
  • I found my way here from a google search, idk of this thread will ever be seen again. but yea, for a long time now my dreams have always been awesome and unusual, i know alot of people say when you grow up your dreams become more normal, nightmares consisting of financial problems and losing of car keys/ wallet exe. But now that im older my dreams are only getting more intense. In the last year ive started having super powers in these dreams, most of the time i can control gravity, i can walk on walls and ceilings and make select others do the same. at first i could touch something and make it sit against a wall, or punch an attacker and make them fall horizontally along the ground, now its like i can just look at something and change its gravity, even crush buildings under extreme gravity. i love these dreams, but... Dreams are training for real world situations.. and i feel like im going insane, i wake up sometimes thinking i have these powers, or feeling like i could set things down on the side of things.. then my brain reminds me that im in the real world, but what if it stops doing that?
