Energy bars, lost or used? (spoilers)

In the drugstore scene, you can find 4 energy bars.
You can give them to 4 different people.

You don't have to give them out however.
But you can't seem to keep them for later either, because whatever energy bars you don't give out seem to disappear from inventory in later scenes, is that right?
Or are they really kept but not shown?

I am sure they got eaten. We just don't see it happen.

You mean if you get all 4 bars but don't give any out, the main character eats all 4 without your choosing to do so nor seeing it happen?

Basically I am saying, if you do not give them out, since there is no other opportunity to do so in episode 1, by the time episode 2 starts, they would have been eaten. Yes, they are gone from your inventory before the end of episode 1. After the drug store, you can't give any more away anyway. Lee probably put them in with the rest of the supplies at the motel. That's probably why they aren't in inventory.

bttf did the same, some items that could be used purely for fun comments are removed between 'time zones' and possiibly to avoid confusion and limit time wasting.

What's weird is that in one of my playthroughs, I picked up the batteries but didn't put them into the radio. I was going to have Carly die after the episode anyway.

Turns out I still have the two batteries when they're all gathered in the front of the Motel. I have the photo and batteries in my inventory.

However, the candy bars have vanished (I did give 1 to Clem, but I was going to hoard the remaining 3).

I gave them all away. One to Clementine, one to Kenny, one to Carly, and the last to Lilly. No point in giving it to Glenn-I don't expect him to come back. Couldn't give one to Doug.

In any case, Glenn refuses energy bar.

You couldn't give one to Doug because it wasn't an option? I collected 3 of them but never got the chance to offer them to anyone. Apparently I missed some dialogue.

I thought about that till the ending trailer. It indicates the group is starving, so we can assume episode 2 probably starts a couple of weeks or so after episode 1. We can assume Lee either handed them out between episodes or munched them himself to sate his secret energy bar addiction.

That's not surprising. He's unlikely to come back.

I'm interested to see if holding onto the energy bars has an effect in the games second episode.
Maybe if you don't use them all in episode one, you can give them out in episode 2 to curry favour with people. Or on the opposite side of that... Maybe you could only give one energy bar to Clementine, and then in Episode 2 if you give another one to Clementine, and no one else, the rest of the group begins to have some animosity towards you for hording for only the two of you. I think that would have been a swell move.

I'm more interested in those batteries.... If they have some other use later on, like finding a flashlight? Would make a HUGE difference in an indoor dimly lit area

Make sure you have the batteries in the flashlight with the positive end pointing in the right direction!
