    In the police car the sheriff alludes to a comic book character,
    Maggie is mentioned,
    and that is all it by my thinking.

    I don't think "the guy in Atlanta" was Rick.

    I'm pretty sure the first episode of the game takes place while Rick was still in a coma.

    The guy the officer talks about in the car is Dexter, the crazy maniac who kills two of hershel's daughters in the prison. (Comic's)

    Actually, I think you'll find that it was actually SPOILER Thomas who was the serial killer in the comics. Dexter did kill his wife, and was suspected for those murders for a while, but it wasn't actually him.
    As for Shawn mentioning "a guy in Atlanta", it wouldn't have been Rick, because as far as the readers of the comics are aware, Shawn and Rick never meet when Shawn is alive.

    they dont directly mention her, Hersel tells shawn to check on his sister, it could be any one of hersels daughters but because maggie is the most popular its assumed he was mentioning her

    *Possible comic spoilers*

    You meet Hershal. Hershal mentions Shawn's sister(which could be Maggie), and of course there's Glenn, who goes on to save Rick's ass in Atlanta and be a badass survivor. And I'm pretty sure the guy the cop was talkin about in the beginning is the killer that Rick's crew later meets up with in the prison. Can't wait to see what other comic characters we bump in to! Maybe we'll come across Michonne in our travels? Before she links up with Rick of course.
