I just read through the blog, and just wanted to say I think the game looks very promising. Will we be controlling both Otto and Amanda or is Amanda the main protagonist?

    Hey Flesk,

Thanks for taking a look and the blog, I'm glad you like it!:)

The plan is to have Amanda as the main protagonist and Otto as the sidekick (much the same ways as Sam and Max) Amanda will be the main character but from time to time the player will also take control of Otto. Otto will function almost like a tool or swiss-army knife, in that he will be used as an item to solve many of the puzzles. For example if the engine on the ship brakes down, Amanda can use Otto to squeezer inside it and tell him how to fix the problem. Otto will have the ability to change shade like a squishy ball and can fit into almost any gap.
Otto will be also used as a hint system. When the Amanda is really stuck she can ask Otto for advice. He will give you a series of tips on solving the puzzles. The first time you ask him he will point you in the right direction, the second he will give a more concise answer and the third he will come up with the solution.

Lookin' good, Steky. I know that it's early days yet but do you think that you'll be using in-game speech? I've always wanted to do a voice-over for an adventure game and would love to contribute some voice work to your game, when and if the the time comes.

I threw together a quick audition, using the dialogue of Marty on your blog...

Dude that rocks!!! He sounds a bit too much like a villain for the character but great voice!!

We're very early in developement but we'd be happy to contact you later when the time comes for voice acting. At the moment, we're just thinking of having voice acting in the cuts scenes and text in the game. Just to cut down on file size and cost.

Drop us an email to (shipantics at gmail.com) with your details and we'll talk more:D

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. As for the unsuitable nature of the voice; if I were to record dialogue for the game, obviously I would be given direction on the part and therefore have a greater understanding of the character. :)

I chose Marty as an audition because that was the male character with the most lines. :D

I'll be happy to help in anyway I can (cut-scenes or otherwise). I've sent you an e-mail and hope to be able to work with you in the future.
In the meantime, I just quickly knocked together another audition piece...

Audition 2 - Playing three different roles from the film 'Gladiator'

... Sorry if 'Gladiator' seems a bit random but that was the first thing that popped into my head when thinking of a script to use for an audition!

Yes absolutely, with a little direction I think it could work. The Gladiator stuff is great too!
Marty is a friendly excitable character. More David Attenborough than piratey. He doesn't necessarily have an English accent and shouldn't just be a characature of Attenborough.
Honestly we haven't figured out what we want him to sound like yet. We were thinking of having him sound like one of three people Jacques Cousteau, David Attenborough or Martin Scorsese. We were going to let them fight for the part but to do that we'd have to raise Jacques Cousteau from the dead!
