Walking dead comic subscription

edited June 2012 in The Walking Dead
Hey guys I have bought volume 16, but I hate the long wait between volumes (about 6 months?). I would need to subscribe to the comics right? But if I started a new subscription, would I miss a few issues? That's my biggest concern and the fact I'm from the UK. This is the only site I have found. It's a 6 issue subscription for £24.99. Does that seem a bit high to you?

What would you suggest?

Is there a comic store in your vicinity. Chances are they will stock it and you can just buy them as they come without having to pay an upfront subscription.

Afraid not. It's much easier for me to have them delivered. I don't mind paying an upfront subscription. My biggest concern is starting a subsciption without missing an issue. Can that be done? can you buy backissues?

I think back issues are sold all the time on ebay. About the missing an issue I would assume that if you paid for a subscription it would start from the month you bought it so if you pay at the start of the month then you should really get that months issue as it is released. Im not too sure though. :D

Thanks for the ebay tip. I found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THE-WALKING-DEAD-Issue-97-108-12-issues-/400300815055?pt=UK_Books_Comics_Magazines_US_Comics_ET&hash=item5d33c9b2cf
That seems like an incredible deal compared to that comic book site.

Edit: and bought. Though I paid for first class delivery , it still worked out about £9 cheaper for 12 issues.

The best thing is the ebay auction is from issue 97, which is straight after volume 16. Now I won't miss any issues.

I've read through Issue #99. Can't wait for the big battle in #100. But I read
Walking Dead Compendium which has the first 1-48 issues. Then I got a friend that put up all the episodes on google documents and read the rest that way. Great comic book.

Yeah I guess that's a way, but personally I prefer a physical copy, and also to support Robert Kirkman.

Damn 6 issues for that much, that comes up to almost $7 canadian dollars. My bro-in-law gets his issues for $3 each at his comic book store and lets me read them. Your lucky you found a person on Ebay selling them for less or else you would've got ripped off.

It will be interesting to see what kind of community the game ends up in.

Absolutely. I'm also really curious how people will react if the game stays true to its comic roots. The Walking Dead is one of the darker stories I've had the privilege to read. As dumb as it sounds, I'm looking forward to see if/how the current members change their view of certain characters (Larry to name one) once it starts to get really bad in the world.

It's had a rough start but so far it seems TTG is on track to deliver a story that's in the same vein as the comic. They certainly have me excited. Though I don't envy the task of creating something as awesome as The Walking dead. They've got balls of steel.

Anyway, awesome to see someone else picking up the comics! Issue #100 is right around the corner and it's going to be awesome. Edit: They're literally having midnight release parties for the 100th issue. I've never heard of anything like that with comics/graphic novels.

Yeah I thought it seemed high, so I shopped around. I guess it works out about £3.25 an issue, if you include the delivery, which isn't too bad considering.

Thanks, will keep it in mind in future, but already bought a years worth of issues from ebay.
