Still cant play :PC

edited June 2012 in Game Support
Is there going to be a patch to fix this or am I going to have to do some kind of trick to get this game working again? I played the game once through. I tried to play it again 2 weeks ago and the game crash with some error.

if you want us to help post in the correct section of the forums and then supply more info..

just saying it's not working is like getting in a taxi and not telling them where to go to assume everyone knows everything automatically is not smart..

so what exactly is wrong ?

Well I am very new to these forums so I really didn't know were to post. anyway when I press the play the game asked like its about to load up, but then it goes back onto the desktop and I get "walkingdead10.1exe has stopped working". I tried reinstalling it a few times, I tried opening it up from the main folder and not steam but nothing seems to work.

I've STILL got this problem too. I presume it is either not gong to be fixed ever (Telltale's only reply so far has been "we can't replicate the issue"?!) OR they are trying to fix it but have not yet been able to... hence the long delay on the release on episode 2 (as annoying as I can see that being, I'd MUCH rather then FIX the game before pressing on with new episodes).

I've tried everything in the other threads, and nothing works. TWD just refuses to run and crashes with that same error every time I run it, as I presume it does for you too?

If you guys post your dxdiag information i can look if i can find anything in there.

    dxdiag
Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.

Now click on the button that says "save all information".
It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

Open the file and press Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+C to copy the contents, and paste them in a reply by pressing CTRL-V.
Sometimes the Forums spam filter catches long posts like this. Don't worry, we can still see them and make them visible.

Thanks, mate! What info do you need from the log file? It's obviously mega-long and I doubt you need to know all my hard drives! Is DxDiag and Display Devices info the main thing you'd need to look at?

It really depends and i can't know what is irrelevant unless i see it.
I usually don't need "DirectShow Filters", "EVR Power Information", and if you make sure, that your hard disks are not full, i also don't need "Disk & DVD/CD-ROM Drives".

Something weird is going on with the Driver Date. It's obviously not shown correctly and i don't know how it would end up like that.

Here's some things you could try:

    - Verify the game cache
    - Install the latest Nvidia Driver
    - Install the latest Realtek HDA Driver
    - Run the DirectX updater

If that doesn't help you can also try running the game in a new Windows User Account.
