You're going to spend a few thousand getting all the issues...
Your best bet is to buy the trade paperbacks, or the compendiums (though compendium 2 won't be out until at least October).
They are large collections of the issues, meant for reading - and they are always being reprinted, so the value will always be about what stores will sell it for. Unlike single issues, where some issues had a short print run back in 2003, where you'll pay several hundred to get it... You can buy a trade paper back that collects six issues in one book, for about $10 USD (theres currently 16 trade paperbacks.. so about $160 USD will get you issues 1-96, and then you can buy 97, 98, and 99 as singles.. they are still new issues so you'll pay cover price for those still)

I get 'em all on the iPad since i'm to far away from any real comic books store as well. But if you don't have an iPad or something alike... maybe amazon?

    Edit*:
Amazon.co.uk sells the 1st volume for 5.62£ witch is about 8-9$ here is a link:

yeah i orderd book 1 and 2 yesterday from amazon, cost me £35 all in all. yeah i didnt know books were out and i did not look forward to trying to get my hands on the comics lol its the exact same content right?

Yes, it's the same content.. Except there's no "Letter Hacks" (fan letters), which isn't a big deal at all.
Nothing different with the story though :)

I got the first compendium (first 48 comics) from Forbidden Planet in London a few weeks ago for £45. I've ordered the next few books (6 editions) from Amazon today.

I bought The Walking Dead Weekly #1 and #2 from MCM Expo a few weeks ago so hoping they appreciate in value as the series gets bigger.

(Still hating Telltale right now for not telling us when Episode 2 is coming to PS3 Europe)

Eh.. maybe 1 and 2.. but not by much. What you want to collect, if you're into that, are the original prints.
I managed to snipe a MC #6 off eBay for $60 - i watched several other #6's in worse condition sell for $150-$175. If you're smart with your bidding, you can get a good deal...

I didn't say what I paid for them?! As issue one sells for $60+ on ebay then it may be worth more than I paid.

..So? It doesn't matter what you paid for them. My point is, if your goal is to hope they appreciate and resell them, you'll get more value out of paying for the first prints, that's all :)

I got a lot of the comics from Ebay. I bought issues 45 - 96 for about £400 and got issues 28 - 44 for about £10 - £30 each. Spent about £600 all together. Still need 1 - 27. Going to have to wait for a win on a scratchcard or something lol.

Wow, that's a nice collection you have so far. Issue 48 is a gem to have :)

I have two copies of issue 48 =] I bought a lot of single issues from a specific comic book store on Ebay and they sent me issues 46, 47 and 48 for being a super awesome guy! I'm just waiting until that stuff happens in the show to sell one of them. I think the price will skyrocket when that happens.

Wow, that's really awesome. I would love to have 48 as it's my favorite issue. I think I might just eBay the #6 I have soon... I'll never be able to collect the full series at this point, and there's really no point in continuing at this rate.

I am going to hold on to issue 99 though, since my letter is in the letter hacks :)

Good luck with your 48 sale, I'm sure your theory is right

Thats cool. I've always wanted to write in but I can never think of anything to say to the Kman lol. It'll end up as a really long, ass kissing love poem to Robert Kirkman.

That's basically how mine was, so no worries ;)

    Comics are just plain expensive.
  • edited June 2012
I got mine in volumes (1-16) from play.com. They are about 7£ each so that times 16 for the entire set.

Why pay for paper? I started buying digitally after I bought the compendium.

yeah that was my biggest fear, getting a few but missing out on the odd comics, i wanna read the whole thing lol

You read them through that site or their app. You don't actually own the comic, you pay so you can read it. If your PC crashes you can use a different device/PC to access the same site with the same user account.
