Playoffs???

edited July 2012 in The Walking Dead
Okay. I'm trying to figure this out. The school kids (Ben and what's-his-name) are in their letter jackets and walking around the woods with their band teacher. So far, so good. I can buy into that: Maybe a football team on an away game; bus crashes; everyone dies but a few. Except, Ben says they were on their way to a playoff game when the zompoc (new term - I just invented it!) started. Playoff game? Has to be football since the foliage is changing colors.

But wait! Everything went to shit three months earlier! Let's say it's September in Episode 2. That would put the kids going to the "playoffs" in June. Why would they need their letter jackets? I'm not sure how much you know about weather in Georgia, but summer time is very hot. Southern Georgia is as close to hell on Earth as you will find. You certainly won't need a jacket in June.

Even if Ep 2 is in December, that still puts the start of zompoc in September. What high school sport has its playoffs in September?

This is kind of bugging me, if you couldn't tell. I love the game, mind you; it's just a curiosity I have. I run the timeline around in my head while I play. Something, at least in this part, doesn't add up.

Am I just over-thinking things?

The play-offs could have been hosted at night time. Or the day may have been strangely cold. It's probably nothing. c:

Good God.. The dead are coming back to life in this game.. Maybe in the Walking Dead universe playoffs are played at a different time than in our universe.

"I can suspend disbelief enough to watch these dead guys eat peeps but a playoff game in June??? No freaking way.. Not buying it"

Also.. "Whats that?? Playoffs? Don't talk about Playoffs?? You kiddin me?? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game"

It's all a matter of what breaks immersion for people.

Most hardcore gamers are not going to blink twice if they mess up the timelines of sports events, but this still might bother some people. Like it bothers some of us that Carly apparently has no idea how to use batteries.

Just a simple question. This game is story driven, so I'm supposed to get into the story. The suspension broke for me there. So, do I ask those questions in Saints Row the Third? Certainly not. In some 1st person shooter? Nope. In the Walking Dead? Yep.
I haven't really seen any other piece of the story part of the game that didn't fit in with everything else. Just a simle question.
This hasn't broken the game for me at all. I still thoroughly enjoy every minute of it. Thought this was a place for discussion.

Plus. It's not the playoff in June that gets me. It's the jackets. Did they all go home and get warm clothing? Kill their zombie parents and go back to school? Oops! Jaybreezy may not like that!

Maybe they always keep their jackets with them?? And you're wrong.. I did like that.
