Choices and consequences (SPOILERS for Episode 2)

edited July 2012 in The Walking Dead
I'm thinking about something. Until now we've been forced to make some important choices (do we save Doug or Carley, do we help Kenny or Lilly), each of them with its consequences. But what about this?
Imagine that, when we get to the dairy, we get to choose who goes back to the inn with Ben. For example, Carley or Mark will go, and the other one will stay with us. Maybe you'll choose the one you like/trust most to stay with you...
Then what we saw happens, and the one who stayed with you at the dairy gets an arrow to his/her shoulder, and later is served with barbecue sauce.
And the thing is... You chose, without knowing.

After episode 2 I can't stop thinking something like this is going to happen in a future episode, I'm going to choose some character I like to stay with me somewhere and he's going to die as a consequence.
Urgh, Telltale... You got me nervous!

Well it is better than taking arrow to the knee. Position where that arrow did land, was quite lucky. Further proving how insanely twisted those other survivors saw their situation. I would have liked the option to trust patching him up to the trusted ally.

I would not be surprised if Kenny or Lilly eventually dies based on your choices in the all past episodes combined. After all there is power struggle over the leadership even if Kenny wants to leave. He might end up staying if he wins and probably never gets to go away instead of dying. Maybe situation could even turn out so that Kenny and Lilly both dies, making Lee the official leader (Episode 2, Lee was already unofficial leader, Lilly barely did anything during it what actually is showing strong leadership, in fact if you don't steal the food, Kenny will act like a leader once again).

Yeah, you're right, all of that could happen, but I'm talking about that possibility where you would choose someone to go with you (on a "mission" or whatever), choosing the character you like better to be with you, and then he/she dies because you wanted to have him/her "on screen" with you.
It works the other way, too. Maybe you choose to go with the other, and keep the one you want to survive waiting... and then he/she dies because something happens while you're gone.
This would be some kind of indirect decision, where the character dies based on what you chose... But there's no way you could know what would happen. I think it would be awesome... and cruel!

Still waiting to see what role that balcony at the motor inn is gonna end up playing. And the sweater.

I don't think that the balcony will have importance in the future (though it would be nice to be wrong), but I'm starting to regret that I didn't make my Clem take the sweater... Little girl could catch a cold or something :(

Lilly can't die, but Kenny probably will.

Theres one choice I made that I'm curious to see what would have happened if I had taken another option instead.

1st play though: I had saved Carley, and gave the axe to Mark. During the zombie scene at the Motor in, Mark tries to save me, but it's Carley that shoots it in the head.

2nd play through: I had saved Doug, and gave the axe to Larry. During the zombie scene, Doung tries to help by breaking a plank on the zombies head but it doesnt work, Larry takes to axe to the zombies head and kills it in one swing.

I have 2 questions: What happens if you took Carley/Larry? ( who ends up killing it? is it overkill?) What happens if you took Doug/Mark? (do either of them manage to help you, or are you left on your own?)

With Carley/Larry, Larry misses his swing with the axe much like Mark, and Carley shoots the zombie.

With Doug/Mike Doug breaks the plank on his head and then Mike takes the axe to his head. Both with Carley and Doug Mike will always get the axe stuck first before smashing it's head in if you have Doug instead of Carley shooting it.
