The Walking Dead RP

edited October 2012 in The Walking Dead
In another thread, CapnJay mentioned the idea for a TWG roleplay. Well I thought it was a great idea and I'm no stranger to paragraph-based RP so I thought I'd see if there was any interest. However, I'm not going to go through the trouble of making a forum and all of that unless I know there'll be some activity. If a paragraph form roleplay featuring the characters from the video game interests you, reply here. If I get enough buzz I'll set it up and put the link here when it's ready for people to join. I'm going to say video game and original characters only for now since I don't know much about the comics, but that could change in the future. What do you think?

I actually made a journal on a place called Insanejournal for Lee Everett but haven't gotten anyone interested yet.

    But obviously, I am!

awesome, just one or two more people and I'll feel confident making a forum!

Also, I was thinking since the whole thing is about choice, we would use what most people did according to the stat sheet for the "canon" choices.

Or make original characters, in which case I'd be interested. Not a fan of playing someone I don't understand.

Is this going to be a play by mail RPG? I thought of a voicechat/maptool p&p thingee …

Yes, original characters will be welcome and encouraged.

dx1, this will be based on proboards forums.

okay, I've got enough interest to start working I think. Getting everything set up will take time, but I'll contact all of you when it's ready. New people who are interested, check back for a link here!

I've been lurking these forums since the first episode released sometime ago, and though tempted to create an account before this nothing has really gotten me to do so, until now. I have about 6 years worth of experience when it comes to paragraph formatted Roleplaying, and writing in general so sign me on board if you guy's end up doing this!

well I definitely plan on it! The forum is a WIP right now but I am working on it!

I think it'll be fun and I'm open for playing just about any male role. :D

pdl do you need egyptian inspiration for the project?

Capn, since it was your idea originally you are definitely going to be an admin. You'll have full powers once everything's set up. But since you aren't familiar with proboards, a friend and I are going to do the tricky stuff and then we'll be up and running. :)

Oh well that's just grand, seems like we have enough to start something at least partially substantial. My question is how would you guy's see it starting? Are we talking beginning of the outbreak or mid point? Also would we all sort of find ourselves ( Our characters ) together or would we end up apart until some of us met ICly?

    we got ourselves a team

Well I think we should have one setting and then how we all end up there. like one person got a ride to the setting one person was traveling there heck if it's say Macon then one group could be hiding across town from another etc. it depends on the setting .Running out of gas. popping a tire. getting dropped off etc
  • edited July 2012
Are we just going with OCs or using some people from the games as well? That changes my strategy as I'd actually have to try and figure something out, Lol.

That's pretty much what I was thinking as well, but being the new guy I didn't exactly want to come out and be all " Well, we should do it this way! "

Anyway, sounds awesome to me. Also, I do think we could go with Original Characters, I don't like the idea of drafting already established characters to play, myself.

As far as our story ( Take the premise of Ep 1 and 2 of the game ) I'd love to chip in ideas for different situations, NPC's we meet, and what not. Just a thought, but a few of us could be chosen to do something like that, without metagaming of course.

I'm usually better at using characters from the game that I know but I don't wanna rock the boat if everyone wants to bring in their own thing. I'd love to play Lee or Kenny but I can scrounge something together if we're going another way!

We should culminate in "Episodes" each could be written by someone else but keeping with the theme of the walking dead

Starting to like you more and more, Sir Jay. I agree on the whole Episode format.

okay guys, this is getting a little complicated. We're gonna be set after episode 2. It's really hard to do "episodes" in a forum format. Both canon and original characters are welcome and encouraged, but the original group is going to be holed up at the Motor Inn and will be established. OCs are welcome and wanted, but will have to find their own way into the group.

I've never played a paragraph based RPG before, but would be totally interested.

rp Chewy but it's like this. say it's the saint johns farm instead of saying "Welp i totally trust these guys except maybe their defenses" we might say "How can they have plenty of food if it's a dairy farm"

you should have the character profiles set up and let people choose which ones they want to be and oc's have to add the bare bones of their characters and more details can be filled in as they're revealed in the rp.

I don't think it would be so complicated actually, yes it would take a little more communication between those writing the stories, but without direction we'd fall flat after a few sessions, still; choice is yours.

Right, I like to think of it as an interactive fanfiction, one where you're in control of one or two characters ( if you're good enough ), and react by what is given by the story and the other characters.
  • edited July 2012
I will. This is a work in progress. It'll probably be tomorrow before it's all set up. You're the only one with a link right now, Jay, because you're admin.

I will set up rules and everything for when I release the link to the forum. And yes, you're exactly right about how it works. You take control of one or more characters and write the story with them!

If I can reserve Mr. Everett then I'd like to. If not then I'll try to jump when I get a link! I'll be sad without a Clem though at some point. -hint hint- xD

Alrighty then i'll get ready to create my characters. and seeing this is a forum we could have like Downtown Macon , uptown macon, st. johns farmland, atlanta, etc boards and if our characters go from one it could move to the other if not too complicated

Lee is reserved for you! I'll probably take on a couple of characters, and if we need a Clem I will gladly take her!
  • edited July 2012
I may toss in an OC later on as well depending on how fast/many people we have as well!

    Thanks for the reserve! :)
