Does having multiple saves detach you from your canon Lee, emotionally speaking?

I really want to try out different choices but I'm afraid I won't be able to remember which choices I went with my canon Lee, and the direction I'm trying to make him go...

Yep, one of my major annoyances with the game delay was I ended up replaying it too much and losing my "True" playthrough. I've tried to recreate it as much as I can but the damage is done.

same, problem is after playing it w/3 different ways. i've noticed very little in the way of major plot twist.

I've noticed the same.. No matter what you decide or choose, the plot still remains pretty similar. Obviously with the exception of major decisions like saving Carly or Doug, but I'm sure in future episodes, some of the smaller decisions will have a bigger impact in our game, but not so much the main story plot.

I understand that Telltale cannot make absolutely different senerios like for example, turn on Kenny and head west to California and have a completely different game than those who follow him to Florida. I wish that were possible, but as a story based game, we're more guided along the story and we'll all end up at roughly the same place.

I've played all 3 saves, the first is my origional, as each episode comes out, that's the one I play first so everything is completely new and un-known. Yes I dont remember every detail or decision I've made along the way, but to me that's okay, I know I'm playing Lee as more neutral but am focusing on keeping Clem safe and friends with Kenny til we get to the boat.

My second save is just playing Lee as more ruthless and making different decisions than the first just to see how the story changes.

    My third is simply Silence.

Yeah without a doubt. I helped Kenny in the meat locker and even though I felt terrible in front of Clem, it seemed like the right choice in that moment.

After seeing Larry showing signs of life before being crushed, and knowing Kenny will go ahead anyway, it's clear the correct choice is to side with Lilly. Similarly, Clem ate some Mark, so I felt I needed to replay to prevent that happening if nothing else. I'm trying to stick with my original decisions, but it seems a waste not to replay when there's so much more content, and as soon as you do you are playing with the benefit of hindsight.

I'm just keeping the top save as my original playthrough no matter what.

I kind of felt like this was going to happen. When I play my other playthroughs, I feel that I could never pick my canon-choices again.
