So Now That We Know Season 2 is Happening...

edited July 2012 in The Walking Dead
...would anyone like to see a sort of "flashback" episode that details some of the events that occurred between episodes 1 and 2?

Just writing this, I realise that this kind of episode would not be able to contain any major choices that would affect the story. As a compromise though, I could see a more action, stealth and puzzle gameplay coming from such an episode, with the choices being whether to be more guns blazing or more stealth oriented (and having the episode, change depending on this, but not have anything else affected by it).

I propose this because I think some of the events that occurred would be interesting to experience, like investigating the Air Base and meeting Mark, etc.

Anyone like the sound of this?

My biggest problem with prequels and "in-betweenquels" pretty much *is* the fact that you know how things will play out. You'll pretty much know that none of the new characters you meet will survive except for Mark, and you'll know how he'll end up. It'll just leech alot of urgency out of the storyline.

Would much rather see a continuation or a whole new group of survivors if possible. Maybe a new location?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that one of the episodes of season 2 should be taken over by this. I mean, now that we know there will be more, why not have more than more?

That's true what you say though. I would take away from the experience a bit, knowing who'll be making it out. But it would be a chance to further develop characters that die early in the series, and provide a different focus for the game (action/stealth/more puzzles, but note that I wouldn't want any of the core mechanics to change).

You make a fair point though, but know who lives doesn't mean it wouldn't be interesting.

My vote for season 2 is a continuation with Lee and Clem.

i would rather see lee and clem than a new set of people other wise i find it too confusing with the tv charters and the video game charters

I honestly cannot see the need in patching up the blanks between that period, we can fill it in with our own imagination.

It was just a time gap that has advanced the timeline of the story, the characters have now spent 3 months with each other, the zombie appocalypse has advanced and is now completely widespread (in episode 1 it was just a few days old), food is running out etc, it basically stops us playing the entire game within a few day period at the very start of the outbreak.

This. I feel the need for Lee and Clem to return for the second season rather then introduce a totally new group of survivors. Let's make this really "season 2", shall we?

Absolutely. I'd want Lee and Clem to return at least, without a doubt.

Well, I guess my idea hasn't been too well received. That's okay though, just thought I'd put it out there. I liked Mark and would have enjoyed seeing more of him.

Mark was a good character. I actually gave him food the first time around. He would benefit the group greatly if he had survived(He did save you from Brenda).

Maybe the relationship between Lee and Clem will go "neutral" in preparation for the second season.

I don't think it would be that hard. I suspect Telltale made the story open ended, allowing for a season 2 should it be approved (and it has), but they will have wrapped up all of the choices/decisions by episode 5.

That way, they can save a few key decisions/stats from the first season (like your allegiance with a few key characters, your standing with Clementine, who is alive, and maybe a couple others that we can't possibly know this early), and go from there.

Season 2 could move to a new setting and feature a largely different cast (retaining perhaps only Doug/Carley and/or some other survivors you pick up later). It could work, I think.

I would like to see an extra, that could be a mini-game, or an animation, that would reaveal with more details, how Mark showed up, and how people reacted to his coming.

I don't think any such thing would contribute to the story. We get the exciting snippets out of a long story. I'm happy we don't just experience the first few days after the apocalypse, but also see what happens when people have been put in such a situation for a longer period of time.

I am setting my hopes on season 2 to feature Clem in her late teens, Lee will be dead by the end of episode 5, as the final hard choice will be him or Clem, and I know for sure where my priorities lie. She will be living in a world that has settled into its new state for a while now, having different kinds of settlements throughout. She is a hardened girl with a gentle touch and always carrying a bit of Lee inside her. We bring her up partly, and she'll make us proud in season 2.

    that would be great!

It's probably waay too much to ask but I would love season 2 to be able to be/end up reeaaaaally different depending on your choices. Not just the standard "who lives/who dies"-thing but more like WHERE in the world and with WHO you end up. Let's say you go with Kenny and his family somwhere. Or decide to follow Lily. Really exploring and making the storyline as unique as possible for each player. Also, another thing on the so far "standard" who get's to live-decisions in the episodes. It'd be cool to have episodes not containing (or at least as a possible outcome of your decisions) any deaths. Sure, people come and go. But I'd really enjoy siding with certain characters at certain times and perhaps meeting up with a group later to see what has happened to them (in example again, Kenny and his family). Have they got the same values? Have the all managed to stay friends? Have they all survived? etc. I'm already loving the replay-value of this game and I hope tell tale will keep increasing it. Hopefully not just "parallel characters" but even parallel storylines being one way.
