About Larry...

edited July 2012 in The Walking Dead
Do you miss him as a character? Perhaps he was hostile towards Lee, but I personally felt such a character was both necessary and beneficial to the storyline.

But perhaps his death was in fact necessary, in order to gain a closer relationship to Lilly/Kenny.

Larry was a douche, we can all agree on that. The moment when
he got a heart attack in the meat locker
, I rushed to his rescue. He deserved a chance. Once I learned that he was only hostile towards you to protect his daughter, I started to like him as a character.

I figured he was going to die, but I didn't think it would be so early (honestly thought they would have left it to episode four or even five).

He was such a polarizing figure, he would have been a great source of conflict just by being there. Now we have deal with more of Lilly and Kenny, neither one of which I am prepared to start hating as much as I did with Larry.

Larry seemed to be the natural choice for the "off a survivor before he turns scene". I'd become used to thinking of Kenny as the heart of the group and Lilly as the head - so of course we have to have a scene where Kenny has to be the cold, hard-assed survivalist and Lilly has to deal with a huge emotional blow.

imo larry dying in ep2 was perfect timing

other wise he would just be repeating his dialogue in ep1 and ep2 he hates lee he wants him dead blah blah etc

he had one direction one goal one view imo he would of been 'boring to talk to and watch' best to die sooner and allow more characters in..than get stale and put people off..

I wanted him to die in episode one when he punched me out and left me for dead in front of Clementine but I will say I wouldnt have chosen to have his head smashed in in front of Clem and his own daughter. Even Larry didnt deserve that.

Even if I hated him I didn't want him to die. On one of my Doug saves I sided with Kenny since I sided with him from the start so I want to see how that turns out. On save 2 Doug save I sided with Lilly and on my Carly save I sided with Lilly.

However we could of revived him but Kenny killed him right away. I didn't think he should of died but he is a risk to the group since he does have health problems.

What larry was going to say when he came back "you saved my life lee thank you let's follow your lead."

    Not Really

In a game like this, someone always must die. And Larry was the natural first choice selection.
However, if it wasnt for the drugstore incident, i like the guy.
Since 3 months passed, i am going to guess that Larry and Lee talked it over and gave their relationship a new chanse.

Someone is also going to drop in episode 3.
I am guessing Ben is the most probable.
But it could also be Carley or maybe even Katjaa.

Since Larry is / was a fictional character, I usually don't go that deep into thoughts like that.

Anyhow, exceptional circumstances or not, I think it was Larry's own fault for not considering his heart condition at all. If I had been in his place, having gone through the drugstore scene where it wasn't certain whether I'd get my nitroglycerin pills or not, I would have reconsidered if flying into a fury on a regular basis is a smart thing to do - especially if my only sense in life left is protecting my daughter who, on a side note, keeps telling me that I have to calm down.

Speaking of Larry, I heard in the upcoming Kirkman's novel: The Road to Wood bury. Lilly's father is named Everett Ray Caul and he dies by sacrificing himself to save her. I have to say this is a better ending then having your head smashed. But to answer the question, I voted no.

i wish the game had true multiple choicies

if you agree with lilly, you get a definitive answer if larry had turned or was revived by cpr. if you agree with kenny, then you allow kenny to drop the salt lick and continue from there.

TRUE multiple choices that actually split the story line in completely different directions would be nice for a change

erm two choices is multiple ?

if you had one choice it is singular..

so you choose lilly or kenny

    you choose carley or doug

    you choose to save clem

    you choose to save duck/shaun

also if ttg made different paths would you wait 2months or more for each episode ? doubt it...

walking dead season two will have a two year wait but it will be alot like nintendo sixty four wrestling game where you start down one path but what you win or lose [in TWD it'd be what you choose} determines what storyline you get

Meh, if I could actually control Lee, I'd have blown that fu*ker away myself.

It's pretty much the exact opposite imo. Kenny wasn't being a survivalist so much as a panicky bitch in that scene. There really wasn't any good reason not to try to revive larry, it's not as if he would have turned instantly and after a few minutes with no pulse there are still tons of salt licks lying around.

Well....Larry is in a better place now. I'll not speak ill of the dead. I'm sad that Larry is gone only because I don't like to see Lilly so sad.

I think that such a character like Larry that hates everyone equally and with such vigor and venom makes a computer game hard to play and just dominates the storyline. Should be smooth sailing from now on.

Did anyone else check his other pockets? Lily's Mother's Ring is in one and his wallet is in the other

Actually, I meant more of an "is this better for the plotline and overall story" kind of question, not really an in-depth discussion of his morals and such, but I really appreciate everyone's inputs!

it's not really a choice if they both lead down the path same.

and it already takes them 2 months in between episodes. how about they just get a larger staff and complete the game first before releasing it? is that really so hard?

I expected Larry to be a constant antagonist and provide friction until the last episode. I'm glad he was killed in the second episode, not because I didn't like him, but because such a standard plot point is lazy and keeping him alive to keep a stale status quo is pointless. Instead, his character was quickly taken where he needed to and it pushed Lily into furthering her character arc. That's good writing.

Everyone can agree, Larry is a douchebag, but even though he has problems, he is a strong member of the group. In my opinion, if he hadn't died, he would be the leader. I tried being more friendly towards Lilly so that Larry might treat me better. Kenny is a bad leader and Larry was a strong one.

You really think people would listen to Larry? All he does is fly off the handle and abuse everyone.
