[TOMI chapter 2] freezes at a certain area in the jungle

Whenever I try to go to a certain area in the jungle the game freezes up and I have to force quit my computer.

I bought the pack on steam and when I verify integrity of the game cache it says it comes out successful but the problem still persists.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

my system specs are:
OS: mac osx 10.6.8
Processor: 2.66 GHz intel core 2 duo
RAM: 4GB
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro (256mb)

    Its running in English and I have also now tried deleting the local game content on steam and re-installing but to no avail. Only folders that I know of that wouldn't be deleted by steam would be finder>Home>library>application support>telltale Games>MonkeyIsland102

    The only files in there are my autosave, save and prefs.prop.

    If I walk up any higher than where Im standing now the game will freeze

    Does anyone know if you even need to go up there at any point to finish the game? If its not necessary to go up there at any point then I'll just ignore it and play on.


    EDIT

    There is a part later in the game where LeChuck is fighting off three pirates but the freezing no longer persisted so I was able to just ignore the issue and finish the game.
