The boy just ain't right :) What's he going to do next?

edited August 2012 in The Walking Dead
I would never treat a real life child this way but since it's a game it's different.

Does anyone else out there find it hilarious that Duck is so stupid? I want to like the kid but I'm just having such a hard time. The writers can't get rid of him Duck is single handed the comic relief in the video game.

I have to wonder who the creators of the game based his character on in real life. They seem to just have it out for the poor kid.

At the beginning his own father (Kenny) freely admits that his off spring is such a block head not even the end of world phases him. "He makes up for it in enthusiasm" that's like saying in the bathroom Duck sometimes points up at his face instead of down at the urinal cake...!

After that Duck causes his first kill and is not even noticeably sad.... He decides to start up the tractor he was playing on and run over poor Shawn I swear he was smiling at one point.

The apple does not fall far from the tree since Kenny can't even tell Herschel that he's sorry his son Duck ran over Shawn with the tractor.

I can't believe on the Farm that the game writers did not have Duck peeing on the electric fence. What a missd opportunity. All I can say is thank goodness Duck was not with Mark and Lee during the tractor scene with the arrows. Duck might have decided to run over Lee and Mark then drive the tractor in to a ditch.

Moving along Duck proves he has ADHD at the dinner table when despite Lee's best effort to say hey your eating a person Duck continues to eat Mark's leg. What's worse is Duck noticably wants to keep eating Mark. Everyone is like OMG and Duck is there with fork is mouth about to scream "Pass over those 2 meatballs please"

I don't know. I just can't get on the side of poor old Duck.

What do yur guys think.. Is Duck gonna cause another death in Episode 3? Perhaps they will head back to the drug store and Duck can eat a tube of Preparation H? Duck could root through Carly's purse and find her secret toy she really needs those batteries for. The possibilities are hilarious and endless.

You never know Duck could figure out that since a zombie bites kills a human Duck could make the connection that if he eats or bites a zombie it will bring the zombie back to life.

Anyway what do you guys think Duck will do or cause in episode 3??

I have a feeling that Duck's going to be around for a while. Hopefully he'll pull off some stunt that saves Lee's life.

    I'm guessing you need more?

Duck is a kid = He's going to get in trouble, he's going to make mistakes BECAUSE he's a kid. Just because there is a zombie apocalypse doesn't magically change that. Sure Clem is smarter and more mature but that's pretty rare in children their ages (although she did taste a salt lick which equals a kid move).

Duck taking the blame for the tractor incident is nuts to me. Why isn't Shawn getting the blame? Shawn is the adult who let a kid play on a tractor without supervision.

As far as the dinner table scene. It's pretty often that when a child is into something they're really into it and sometimes they need something like a snap of the fingers in front of their face, or a clap, or even a removal of whatever it is to get their attention away from what they're doing.

Duck get's a lot of undeserved flack which has caused me to go pro Duck. I hope the little guy makes it to the end.

    Duck is actually death.

Duck is just here to drive Kenny. Then drive him over the edge.

Unless you're playing the other side, then it'll be Lily that turns against you.

i don't like duck or kenny, i can see them leaving but the group cant get much smaller, but yea duck get annoying for most the time I don't see him causing another death tho

Duck was an assasin before the zombies came, and he was dedicated to the job so he killed shaun and made it look like an accident. But we know better next episode you battle him to the death he has black belt in martial arts.

I have 3 kids. The boy is 14 and my girls are 6 years oldb and 11 weeks. Don't use the OMG Duck is a kid so if the end of the world would happen he wold not even notice.

There was a guy at work who used to make his boy dig trenches in his yard when the kid got out of line or did stupid things. Needless to say if Duck was his kid that trench would circle the world. Twice.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say most kids aren't brought up that way.

Who says he doesn't notice? Maybe he chooses to stay enthusiastic in spite of everything.

Or maybe he plays dumb because he's a kid and doesn't how else to cope, kinda like the class clown.

I don't know. I guess. I wonder how old the writers invisioned the character of Duck....

I have two nephews, who on occasion do the dumbest things and when you ask them why, they invariable answer "I dunno". I think it's just a boy thing and Clem is just more mature because that's a girl thing.

Yup. I have seen my share dumb things. I have watched my teen age boy drive the garden tractor too close to obstacles and get stuck. I have seen my daughter color on the wall.

That's the thing about it. I love kids. But it's something about Duck that curls my skin.

If he was a special needs case then I would have a different opinion.

It's not like Kenny said here is my son Dan, Dave, or Roy who has has this condition that we make the best of.

Kenny said here is Duck.. We call him that because he is basically so slow he has no idea zombies have risen from the dead. If you come across a quart of motor oil just give it to him and tell him it's a milkshake and watch nothing phases him like water off a ducks back.

I don't know if you've noticed, but Kenny's a bit of a wanker. I suspect poor little Duck is going to evolve over the course of this game.

Yea all Duck has to do is evolve a little more to make it past Kenny. Kenny seems to be between Chimp and Gorilla on Darwins theory of evolution scale.

Hopefully Duck will evolve from the clueless boy he was to a mature kid that saves the group's life.

Everybody: "Thanks a lot, Duck! You just saved our lives!"

    Duck pulls off a smirk.

While yes Duck annoys me and i wish i could ducktape his mouth shut, we all know at least one kid or adult that just has to talk all the time. Hopefully Clem will realize she doesn't have to be polite all the time and justs tells Duck to shut up. Clem is at one end of the spectrum, the quiet, shy kid, and Duck is at the extreme other end, a outgoing kid that never shuts up. Bad thing is if Duck is special needs, like ADHD, his medication is out, and he is only going to get worse.

I wonder what his real name is........

A descent twist would be if Duck was involved in his moms death somehow and Kenny had a breakdown...

Duck is Kenny Jr. He's called duck because he never shuts up.

The writers always gives little hints at future stories down the road. Remember that story that Shawn told to Lee about that guy just shooting that kid. I think something will happen to Duck and he ends up being mistaken for a walker (like getting covered in muck again) and panics, running towards the wrong person getting himself shot.

quite a brutal idea, suppose it's in line with twd comics/show ;)

    Noticed that too.

Hats off to the writers who do a really good job at foreshadowing.

Of course to make it a game it will have to be Lee to pull the trigger.

Will be the breaking point of Kenny and Lee

And what if it's foreshadowing having to shoot Clem?

    my mouth waters...

I notice the writers have a bit of irony in the way they foreshadow.

Might be a little fuzzy on the exact quote but didn't Kenny say something about cracking open Larry's head well before the meat locker scene. I felt like there were more lines of foreshadowing spoken by characters that end up having exactly what they said happen to them.

The only one that didn't was Mark, when he talked about being in a locked room, with Larry.

But the choice to shoot clem would be juicy.
  • edited August 2012
anyone threating the queen would be number 1 to die next, hence saving our clem..(if we get the option)

as for kenny 'foreshadowing' larry's death he does say in ep 1

"i'll kill him kat, you worry about duck" this is when lee and kenny plus entourage arrive in macon when they run out of gas..
  • edited August 2012
Man I could have sworn Kenny said something about smashing Larry's head in.

i think your remembering kenny talking to lee at hershals farm upon meeting for the first time..

    just after talking about duck

kenny says to lee 'persoanlly i apreciate a guy who knock a couple of heads together if he has to.''
