I just got the impression that was he was a stranger who learned about the group through conversing with Clementine. I doubt he has been watching them/had any prior knowledge of the group.

I don't know. I thought , at first, it might have been the Asian Pizza Delivery guy from the first episode. (Glenn, I think) But I kind of doubt it now. Things were being stolen from the motel though, so maybe it's someone that stole it. I can't remember when the second walkie talkie came up missing or "got broken".

Yeah i at first thought it could of been Glenn , but different voice and by the look of the characters hair, body no hat either, doesn't look like him ,

Clem lied the whole time at the group and specially Lee. The 2nd walkie-talkie had Glenn in the 1st episode and got it from Clem, so Glenn must have met the guy or atleast had a confrontation with his group about the guy (and perhaps his group).

I do also think that we have to cut Omid's leg off because 1 achievement call something with "We have to cut it" or something along the lines.

    Let's clear some stuff up!

The creepy guy's walkie talkie (or ham radio or whatever other device) does NOT have to be the same walkie talkie that Glenn took with him in Ep. 1, it just has to be tuned to the same frequency as Clemmy-Clem's.

I think that Clem was maybe playing with the frequency one night, thinking of her parents, when by coincidence she found this guy who was more or less doing the same thing.

The creepy guy on the Clem's walkie does not need to have prior knowledge of Lee or Clem or anyone else in the group, he just needs Clem to divulge everything to him over the walkie.

Obviously, for some nefarious purpose, the man over the walkie is taking advantage of Clem. She *probably* (naively) asked him about her parents as soon as she got someone to respond, so he could have potentially started lying to her fairly early on. Clem must've just *thought* that the walkie was broken in Ep. 1, and when she finally gets it to work at some unspecified future time, the man she reaches manipulates her into telling Lee and everyone else that the walkie is still broken.

But why is then Clem talking to a person she never had seen before about Lee, her parents and stuff (perhaps the group too). Clem had in the group Katjaa, Lee, Carley, Lilly to talk with when she had a problem. The other thing is, what a coincidence that she got someone on the walkie-talkie who is in Savannah, could be also someone from the bandits or whatever.

I don't know much about walkie-talkies but what kinda range would they have? And how far is Savanna from Macon?
  • edited August 2012
I don't know who he is but I look forward to hunting him down in the next episode. The last thing the group needs in some crazy stalker looking to get his hands on Clem.
  • edited August 2012
I think its very STRANGE that he just happens to be in Savannah... also we dont know anything regarding next episode...the guy running away near the end? could be kenny, omid or any single person in the group.
  • edited August 2012
The guy on the walkie-talkie had also a accent and talked weird, that is for sure a pedophile. Lee, Kenny & Christa (don't count Chuck, Ben & Omid as helpful) have for sure their hands full with protecting Clementine... unless she does also say to Lee who this weird guy is (and you have to tell the others too about).

EDIT: Here 2 screenshots about the person who will stalk the group because of Clementine.

He does look like a old weird man.

I think its creepy and odd that Clem has been talking to him this whole time without telling Lee, I think that shows that Clem might not trust Lee. Think about it, the whole time Lee and clem were talking about their strategy Clem urged to go look for her parents yet completely failed to mention that she has been talking to a guy who has"confirmed" her parents are ok. I know shes a kid but logically that knowledge of knowing her parents are alive and she has been talking to someone via radio to confirm it, wouldnt you want to talk to Lee about it right away? It just seems fishy

well as we speculated before on how dark can ttg go with twd ?

having an actual pedo ? yeah thats nail'd it, of course clem will be saved but there'll be plenty of hints saying thats what 'could happen'

imo it's kind of obvious that clem isn't street smart, she didn't 'drop a hammer on lee's head' (good lol moment there) back in ep1, she trusts everyone, and does talk to strangers just cos they seem nice..or offer her free candy..

The guy's silhouette actually reminds me of Douglas Monroe from the comics. Although, there is really no possible way AT ALL that Monroe could be in Savvanah, so it's not him. Who is this guy?

Well I have a feeling some people from the group will not make it at the end because the last achievement in Episode 4 got called
    "Penultimate"
    - So some survivors will not make it because of walkers behind them or that crazy weird old pedo guy.

Probably Omid for sure....or Kenny

Also about the walkie talkie...i thought Clem's parents had another one...meaning total of 3 walkie talkies....one that Clem has...one that her parents have..and one that Glenn has....

So maybe the crazy guy that the voice mail mentions might be the guy who attacked Clem's dad...retrieving the walkie talkie...

Well, Clementine is a kid but at the same time she has traits of adult. It is possible that the guy on Walkie-Talkie blackmailed her into not telling anyone, or he will harm her parents. And that is again where her child nature and adult nature collide. The naive part of the child in her makes her believe that man blindly, while the more adult part of her personality also makes her consider that it may be true what he is saying and he actually may have her parents. So I doubt it is anything related to her not trusting Lee, after all, on many occassions, Clem showed her affection towards him and him protecting her.

I was really confused as to how the hell Clem's walkie-talkie could even receive anything. Those kinds of radios have a short radius. It's clear that they have both been talking to each other. When I talked to my friend about it he said it's actually possible to set up a relay for walkie-talkies which allows them to transmit over long distances, but it would only work one way and it still doesn't make sense how Clem could have been transmitting to him.

Then again, it's a video game, and still a damn good twist.

It's pretty obvious this guy doesn't know where Clem's parents are and wants Clem alone. It is HIGHLY unlikely that whoever it is met Glenn. You don't need the exact same walkie talkies, just the same frequencies. What's more likely is that Clem managed to talk to this guy who said he knows her parents, but that she shouldn't tell anyone about him or they wouldn't take her to Savannah. Remember, Clem is just a kid. Some guy from Savannah happened to catch her talking on the frequency.

Dunno if she lied about breaking it at the drugstore or not, though.

Now here some things I notice and write here after replay the 1st episode when Lee walk around in the house:

    - Lee took a walkie-talkie out of a cabinet in the kitchen, so the parents don't have the other walkie-talkie.
    - On the fridge there is a piece of paper and he said: "Hmmm... The Marsh House. That's a Savannah area-code. But that's the type of note you'd leave a babysitter."
    - Diana the mother told the babysitter Sandra: "We're still in Savannah. Ed had a little "incident" with some crazy guy near the hotel, so we had to get him back to the ER and have it checked out. Anyway, he's not feeling well enough to drive back tonight, so we're staying an extra day. Thanks so much for looking after Clementine, and I promise we'll be back in time before your spring break!" The message was left at 5:43 P.M.
    - 2nd message: "Oh my God, finally! I don't know if you've tried to reach us; all the calls are getting dropped. They're not letting us leave and aren't telling us anything about Atlanta. Please, please just leave the city and take Clementine with you back to Marietta. I've got to get back to the hospital. Please let me know that you're safe." Message was left at 11:19 P.M.
    - 3rd message: "Clementine? Baby, if you can hear this, call the police. That's 9-1-1. We love you... we love you.... we love y-" Message was left at 6:51 A.M.... At the last message you can hear her mother must be outside and was crying at the end

So I'm assuming that the parents must be perhaps in the hotel where the group perhaps also is. Another fact I have to add is, that from Savannah to Marietta are over 400 miles. And 2 facts because the group is in Georgia the achievements in the next episode are called:
"Georgia's first city" and "Georgia's last city"

We can be for sure that the "crazy guy" Clementine's mom mention must be that guy from the walkie-talkie, so he kinda must had a walkie-talkie or he met Glenn "his friends" (Glenn named them at the end from episdoe 1) because he (Glenn) was on his way at the end from episode 1 to Atlanta. :)

EDIT: I did also some more research and the Kings way is a actual street in Savannah and it's at the end of the south... in the preview video where Lee ask where the stranger is he stay behind a church, so a church is also pretty close to the King's way. The Marsh House is near the water but in Savannah in the "real word" there is a hotel called the "Marshall House"... if the group want to reach the "Marsh House" they have to go all the way up to the north.
In episode 5 there is also a achievement called "Marsh House" and that's nearly the end, so we have to deal perhaps with the stranger to the 5th episode and I think we see Lilly back helping Lee & Clem and give them "Mercy" (a another Achievement) before she die.

    EDIT: I did also

I'm not too certain about that. I think as the outbreak started, Clem's dad probably got attacked by some "crazy" guy outside of the hotel. In this case, crazy = zombie (at least in the beginning) So, Clem's dad is almost assuredly a zombie or dead by now. The old man on the radio could be anybody, really. Maybe he was staying in the hotel - or working there.

On a side note, The Marshall House in Savannah is supposedly haunted, along with everything else in that town. Cool place!

But what can't be explained is how the walkie talkie still works. I can see Doug fixing it, but I don't know why he wouldn't share the news with the rest of the group.

On top of that, creepy guy just so happens to be in Savannah. Bit of a coincidence.

Finally, really curious about the make and model of that radio. Talkies that size have a 2 mile range on a clear day. If it could reach Savannah it must have been a top of the line model, and those use custom battery packs, AA's wouldn't be able to produce enough juice even if it took them. I'd expect maybe 8 hours of talk time on a fresh battery, and the thing was in use for 4 months with no electricity or opportunity to charge it.

Okay, first time on the forums, but I have a completely different idea on the walkie situation and wanted to share. I think the homeless man, Chuck, is the voice on the walkie talkie. First of all, it sounded like him to me the first time I heard the voice. I listened to the message Lee hears more than once, and I didn't get anything from it that led me to believe that Clementine had been communicating for a long time with the voice on the walkie. We know that Chuck spoke to everyone on the train and got to know them. We also know that children like to blab all kinds of things, and Clementine probably told him all about her parents. It wouldn't be unheard of for another survivor to have a walkie; he may have been trying to communicate with other people. I don't think Clementine lied about her walkie being broken; I think she either thought it was broken and it actually wasn't, or Chuck did something to fix it. He feels creepy to me the way he talked about Clementine not going to live or something like that. I think the shadowy figure in the preview is not the voice on the radio. Just there to mess with us.

That ending seemed weird to me. A radio like that maybe has a range of a mile I'm thinking and it's also line of sight (LOS).

I'm thinking as the train got closer to Savanna that Clem tried contacting her parents and some pervert with a scanner responded. I'm just glad Lee has Carley's Glock because it's time to find this Mo and take him down!

Mr. walkie-talkie doesn't need to have been to the Marsh House or even met Clementines parents. Any con man worth his salt could have fished information from Clem and fed it back to her in order to get something from this. I believe the person may be looking to grab Clem and bargain her back for supplies. I try not to think of the worst case scenario of what his goal is.

What is clear is that this mystery man wants Clementine to himself. He instructs her over the walkie talkie to come to the Marsh House with or without Lee and the group. I think it's far more likely that she said it was broken so the adults wouldn't take something she really cared about and, by coincidence, this guy caught her on the frequency. Conning children is very easy.

The only thing that makes zero sense is the range on the walkie-talkie.
  • edited August 2012
My thought is the same as Fiddle Diddle but adding on that she only starts talking to him on the train. The range is probably not enough to go from Macon to Savannah and with all that's happened she most likely needed someone to talk to, because she hasn't been talking to anyone about what's happened throughout the episode, so she was open to talking to a frightening stranger. Sorry if someone else has the same idea, too lazy to go through the whole thread.

The guy in the trailer for Episode 4 Lee is yelling at might not even be the guy Clem was talking to. Developers like to do stuff like this. The guy in the trailer might just be some storyline that happens in Ep 4 and it pisses Lee off.

I think so aswell. Maybe this will be a issue in the beginning that you can distrust Clementine, when she said that he just called recently or whatever.

Also yeah...the Next Time Trailers always lie...I mean it had scene with Christie which does not appear in the episode right? And in my playthrough there was no line from Clem "Get people mad when their scared?"...and the Next Time on Walking Dead Episode 2 trailer had scenes like Ben with a gun, running through a corn field and more...

So...I don't trust them one bit.

First of all, there's no way the guy has been talking to Clem all this time from Savannah. That walkie talkie doesn't have that kind of range, and the second walkie was never even in Savannah to begin with. Glenn had the second walkie, but there's no reason he would have taken it with him to Atlanta either. That means he either left it at the hotel with Lee and the group, or he dropped it somewhere in Macon (I don't remember anyone accounting for it after he used it to call for help from the ice chest).

If the other walkie was at the motel, it could have been stolen by bandits. Or Jolene could have taken it when she took Clem's hat. Either way, whoever has it has to stay close to the group to keep talking to her - which either means they're following Lee and company, they knew their destination and beat them to it or...the call is coming from inside the train!
  • edited August 2012
Notice, that at the beginning of ep3, Lee sees Clem talking on the walkie. When Clem notices that Lee is watching her, she drops the walkie to her side, and then shows Lee the new stickers she put on it. I believe that she was talking to the mystery man way back when they were at the motel.
