SPOILERS ***-Question Concerning Roadside Arguement And Carley-*** SPOILERS

edited August 2012 in The Walking Dead
I tried 4 times to keep her alive and couldn't. Fine. So be it. Here's what I don't understand; Twice I got the message that "Carley will remember that." when trying to difuse the situation.

What's the point of her remembering that, if 5 seconds later she's just going to die?

It's to give you that feeling that they'll be around and nothing weird is going on.

It really just works or gets you excited the first time or two.

Honestly it makes me feel like they are not just stabbing you in the chest but digging the knife around. Having played it with both Doug and Carley Doug never had a "will remember" thing so when I saw that the second time with Carley I thought, maybe we can save them? Maybe there is a way to save her and then I can try and save Doug too? I've never felt bad before when a character died, in the comic, in the show, in other games where folks die; it's always fit or seemed real. But this felt needless and like a cop out in a lot of ways.

So you're saying it felt like a cop-out because you actually felt something? The whole point of that scene was to make you feel bad. And it sure as hell made me bad. It made me feel rage, sadness, and guilt. The mark of true entertainment is being able to play with the viewer/players emotions. And this game has that down in spades.

Is there really no way to save Carley?

is there any way to get ben off'd instead? i mean he's just a dumb kid didn't mind him, but carley...well carley is carley

There is no way to save Carley or Doug. That's just how the story goes; a fairly linear experience overall - if they were to actually have the plot points branch off the development time would be even longer and they'd need more money for the costs.

As mentioned, you're being tricked into thinking they won't die. After all, "what's the point of remembering that if they're going to die later?"

    Fan's meta is getting meta-d.
