Lighting the Fuse

edited September 2012 in The Walking Dead
So when the massive swarm was coming towards the train, I assumed there would be a point to throwing the blowtorch into the fuel puddle. I thought it would ignite the tanker and blow the entire swarm straight to hell.

But instead....nothing happened. Whether you lit the fire or not, the swarm just passes through without incident.

Kinda wasted an opportunity for an epic moment there Telltale..

I saw a few zombies walk STRAIGHT on the FIRE! wtf is up with that?

    I expected a huge explosion =/

I didn't even know you could do that. I noticed the gas but never saw a way to light it.

I missed it the first time. But as the train was pulling away into the distance it suddenly occured to me there was still the blowtorch on the bridge. And a big puddle of gas. So I immediately reloaded, expecting a big awesome explosion for my reward.

Quite a let down really. Doesnt ruin the episode or anything, but yeah, an epic moment that never was.

i think the smoke signal it gave off will come into play in episode 4?

How so? The fire is still quite a long way away from where the train ends up in Savannah. Even if other swarms of zombies arrive on the scene later, drawn by the smoke, it doesnt mean they would end up heading along the train tracks.

But that swarm that passed until the bridge will stop be trailing in our wake. I wonder if we'll see them catch up to us again at some point.

Yeah, that was disappointing. I expected, well... something!

Yeah, I was a little disappointed, too. Just like when you have Carley, and open up about your past to the group (Doug doesn't have this option), it doesn't really do much except defuse Lily when she slings mud around about your past outside the RV. The scene with the tanker specifically showed the fuel leaking, like the scene was alerting us it was there for some "reason." As stated... nothing.

The Carley option and the fuel option make it feel like certain things were omitted from the game at the last second, or something. :/

I don't know about TWD having Mass Effect 3 syndrome, but it's starting to have Final Fantasy VII syndrome, from the looks of it. >_>

I was a bit disappointed also. I expected an explosion or something like that.

Yeah...I was watching from the train worried we would not clear the blast radius in time! I was expecting a huge fireball then a massive shock wave...Oh well..I guess that only happens in the movies...not in a ZA.

It would have been nice to see a huge explosion, but I can understand why they wouldn't I guess. But come on, there weren't even any burning walkers lurching through the inferno toward the train!

Probably a herd in Episode 5. It'd be cool if using that blowtorch cut the zombie numbers down enough to survive.
  • edited August 2012
Yeah, I was disappointed. I thought it would explode, after they were going on about how explosive it would be etc. If we hit it.

Come on. This isn't Resident Evil.

It was kinda funny! Lee kicks the blow torch and jumps and you're waiting for the boom... all I could think was "evidently it's not Hollywood" and laughed.

With the fuel leaking, the fire would have surely climbed up the fuel leaking out, and into the tanker itself, which would have resulted in a bit more than what occurred. Just because it isn't Hollywood doesn't mean irl tankers don't explode. I seen on the news a few years ago a tanker that crashed into a bridge. The thing was leaking, and the engine was on fire. Firefighters couldn't put out the engine fire in time, and the thing took out the entire overpass it crashed into.

Lol i know right! Hence another choice that's in game that didn't make a lick of difference

Come on Telltale, can't make one lil explosion?

    massive let down..

Are you putting down FF VII? Sir, I challenge you to a duel! (Preferably with a gun blade, but that's more FF VIII.)

To add to the debate, I missed the blowtorch option the first time through, and almost missed it the second time. I always wondered what was the point of the leaking gas, then I saw the option for using the torch again on top of the bridge and got a little giddy. I rewound, kicked it over, and waited, and waited, and waited, WTF?

There has to be a reason for this. Maybe it's something that will show up later, but overall a pretty big let down. About the only thing I've been disappointed with so far in the game.

    you've gotta do it yourself.

If nothing else at least I would have felt safer, entering Savannah knowing I didnt just trail a herd right to its doorsteps

Yeah, disappointing... I was so pumped... that was even more of a cock tease than Carley :p

I was expecting a explosion, but the fire was cool to.

Until I realized the Walkers weren't even on fire and just walked through it just fine.

    ...

    TellTale Logic.
