****'s Death; Karma?

edited August 2012 in The Walking Dead
Is
Duck's death
Karma for what happened in the meat locker in Episode 2 and what happened at the Barn in Episode 1?

    It's just bad luck.

He doesn't mean harm, but he is a dumbass.

all I know is that TT has a hell of a way to get you to sympathize with just about everyone on one level or another. At the end of the last episode I was pissed at Kenny. And in the beginning of this one too because he didn't help me when I was trapped under the door in the pharmacy. But after Duck and Katjaa died, I was back on team Kenny like I was in episode 1. Especially since they added the scene where Kenny blames himself for Duck getting bitten. That's punishment enough for what happened last episode, I think. So I'm willing to start over clean slate with Kenny, but he's on probation. :P

No, it's just Katja being a horrible parent by not keeping her* kid away from the zeds.

"We're not saying the zed word!"

No, Kenny doesn't have bad luck. To tell us the reality of luck and blame in the zombie apocalpyse: here's Carl Grimes.

Probably is. If you have a character that crossed some kind of line in terms of only caring about his own, you don't off the character himself, you kill what he cares about the most.

This is the kind of stuff that separates real writers from fanfic rejects hired by EA to make up for the real talent that's been leaking out of the company since 2007.

    Ahem, not pointing fingers.

Want to add some subtlety to that?

The Carl Grimes panel sums it up. This is The Walking Dead. Shit just happens.

That said, from a storytelling standpoint, I'm also impressed with the way Telltale gets me to like previously unlikable characters just before killing them. I was starting to warm to Larry just before his demise. I was starting to love Duck before he got bit. If the next episode makes me like anybody that I don't already (like, say, Ben, Christa or Chuck) I'm going to automatically consider them doomed.

I liked Katjaa and I liked Carley. Never liked Lilly and I don't like Christa. As for Karma... it was kind of a given as soon as Kenny said, "It's never going to come to that" in the meat locker when Lee asked him what if it had been Katjaa or Duck.
