Walking Dead iOS Ep2 downloads, doesn't install

I'm trying to install Ep2 of Walking Dead on my iPad 2. I've had several attempts to download that fail partway through with the "Connection lost" message and force me to start over.

More troublesome, I've reached 100% downloaded three times now, and after it hits 100%, I get the same error message (Connection lost while downloading data. Please ensure that you have a working internet connection and re-attempt the download.) and the episode doesn't install, and the entire download is lost.

I've tried resetting my device with a full power-down, but I still get the same error after fully downloading the episode. Is there anything else I can try besides uninstalling the game and losing my episode 1 save?

I've noticed that in Settings/General/Usage on my iPad, the Documents and Data for the game is around 508 MB, while the game itself is 360 MB. I'm assuming this is largely the downloaded data, as I wouldn't expect my single saved game to be larger than the game itself. This data size varies after each failed download attempt. Is there a way to delete the data without uninstalling the game?

I'm currently trying on my iPhone 4S to see if I get the same issue. I've installed the game, and am currently downloading episode 2 (very slowly), and so far the download has failed twice. after a fresh install of the game, the Doc and Data size was 8 KB. Now, after failing at 11% downloaded, I have 71.6 MB of data associated with the game.

This is getting very frustrating, and I'm worried I'm filling up my devices with garbage data that won't go away.

For a company that deals primarily in downloadable games, I'm shocked at how poorly this game handles its downloads. I don't think I've used another product that had to restart rather than resume a download since the 90's!

Update: 3rd failed download on iPhone, now showing 32 MB of data for the game. At least the download seems to be overwriting itself rather than accumulating more and more data.

Can't download either, get same message.

My copy is doing the same thing except its charged me for the pack and then it charged me again for the first episode. I saw the charges on my bank account today.
If I try to download it keeps saying connection lost and doesn't pass 0% download. It got to 2% download on one instance and then stopped.

server overload maybe. But can a op please refund at least the second charge. I can wait for the other problem to be fixed for a bit.

Same, it's frustrating as I was planning on downloading it tonight and playing it tomorrow (ep 1 and 2) but I guess that's not happening. If this keeps up for a few more days I'm going to request a refund on the whole thing.

Actually, now that I think about it, would it be possible to just request a refund for the whole thing? This whole debacle has kinda annoyed me to the point where I don't think it's actually worth the cash. I'd rather spend $20 on something worthwhile and working.

    Hi maarnas,

Please restart your PC, then make sure you are logged in to your telltale account and have a strong internet connection before attempting the download again.

I've been trying to download episode 2 for the past 3 days now! I want to play it so bad but every singe time i get the message saying the connection failed and i should check my internet connection and re attempt. I have full internet connection, i'm logged in and I've constantly tried restarting the computer but NOTHING has worked! I even went so far as deleting my progress from episode 1. The downloading gets to 58% then the message pops up. Then when i re download it goes back 10 notches. So it's basically going in a never ending circle. I would really love to know how to fix this because i paid my money on it and i would like to actually play the game!

Finished the download 2 times already and only get an internet explorer link to show for it. The link does absolutely nothing as well!

Im using all my internet to try and get this at a 3 Hr 15min wait per download.

    Hi ushkadush,

The issue you are experiencing does not appear to be related to the original topic. Can you please provide more information on what you are experiencing? Are you trying to download the installation file or in the game trying to download an episode? You mention an internet explorer link, can you provide more details on this? Thank you.

I can't download Ep 3 for iPad. It downloads just fine on iPhone. When I try on iPad, the "purchasing" icon just keeps spinning.

I deleted the game and re-installed it, but that did nothing but erase my purchase of episode 2! When I try to restore my game, again, the "restoring purchase" icon keeps spinning and spinning.... help!

Try shutting down the application and refreshing your wifi connection. Also make sure you are logged into your iTunes account before launching the application. If you are still not getting a good connection, try connecting to another available network.

Same issue for me, but I can't get past 0.00% after clicking GET. Everything else is connected and downloads fine. iPad downloads other apps and music etc no problem.

I have restarted everything several times.

Please let me know how to fix this so I can use the money I gave you months ago.

I had the same problem being stuck at 0 percent on an iPad 3 when downloading episode 2.

Closing the app (so it isnt even running in the background) and restarting it fixed the problem.

    Hi Mattp

I'm having the original posters issue. I have an iPhone 4s with solid wifi connection. I have purchased all episodes but have not been able to successfully download any of them. I have tried at least a dozen times, different episodes, while plugged in with no avail. My connection is not the issue, I have full wifi strength and never had any issues with the connection on any of the devices that use the wifi.

It has been 4 months since the original post, do you have any resolution yet? I loved the first episode and purchased all episodes as soon as I could. Now I'm not able to play the content I've paid for. How can I fix this situation?

Try shutting down the application and then turn off your device. Wait a few minutes for the cache to clear, then restart your device. Also make sure you are logged into your iTunes account before launching the application and attempting the download again. If you are still not getting a good connection, try refreshing your wifi connection or connecting to another available network.

I have the same problem as maarnas but on the ipod, 0.00% and nothing more.
My ipod is only on 4.3.3 (can't update) but that is all I could come up with. :(
I've looked all over the "Interwebs (reference) and this is the only usefull site.

Which iPod Touch generation do you have/why can't you update?

iPods are not officially supported devices for TWD and may have issues.
Please try the suggestions in this thread.

That being said, some users have download issues on supported iOS devices.
You can try if the fix TTG is currently working on helps with the problem, if you can wait until its released.

You also have the option to request a refund from apple.

I see this problem started at least last year on august, and as today it has not been resolved. I tried yesterday and today to download episode 2 on my ipad and as expected could not finish the download, although I reached 100% one time (and several 99%).

Why Telltale won't check their files or at least be a little more supportive to correct this error? I mean almost a year with this issue speaks very bad for the company...

How to fix connectivity issues on ipad/iphone:

    1. Go to your settings menu and set Auto-Lock to "Never"
    2. Download Hotspot Shield VPN on App Store
    3. Run Hotspot and follow the instructions
    4. Enter your game and download the episodes. NOTE: Do not perform background download, otherwise it won't work

I had the same problem. After an update of the app my purchased episodes are gone. I can click the 'get' button, but downloading will not start. After a reboot of my iPhone the download will start, once, but never finish. It stops with a network connection timeout error before it reaches 50%.

I reported this problem to Apple and asked for, and got, a refund.

Telltale, please fix this, the game is great, but now I'm unable to play it.
  • Nowadays more and more people use iPhone because of its more powerful functions and wonderful appearance compared to other brands of mobiles. • I have been having these exact same issues on my iPad. The only thing is is the fact that when I first got this The Walking Dead app I bought all of the episodes because II thought it was an awesome game. Then when I go to click get episode it doesn't install. I thought that uninstalling it would help but then I ran into a new problem, when I went to go restore my purchase it asked for my Apple ID and password so that I could be login into the iTunes store. I did that all an all it does is absolutely nothing. I really don't want to get ripped off and would like some answers.
