"You left Duck in danger, twice"

BULL

I was forced to replay the first episode again because I lost my save when I reformatted my computer, so on this playthrough I sided completely with Kenny (he's been a real bro to me thus far, despite his idiot son).

I showed an interest in his family at the farm, then I
went after his son when he and Shawn were attacked, punched the zombie and then again when Kenny arrived to pull him out
, then I
took his side against Larry, saying it's either him or Duck, and then followed it up by choosing the No... [Stop him] option because I wanted to chew Larry out
, afterwards I
consoled him and his family, gave them my spare energy bars to ease the pain
.

I then get to Episode 2 and HE THINKS I WASN'T LOOKING OUT FOR HIS FAMILY?

WHAT THE HELL MAN.

WHAT THE HELL.

Why did this happen?? Is there a bug or did I do something wrong?
(Haven't played Episode 3 yet or finished the 2nd.)

You seem to be under the illusion that you have choices in this game.

There are choices in this game. Literally. You have 4 different things you can say in a response to a situation. You can CHOOSE between Carly and Doug. You can CHOOSE to leave or keep Lilly in the RV. You CHOOSE to kill the st. john brothers. You can CHOOSE how to raise Clementine.

    *snip*

And they die regardless. And she leaves regardless. And you never see the brothers again regardless. I'm sorry, sure, there are choices. They don't mean anything, though! :)

In EP1 when Larry and Kenny first started arguing did you tell Kenny to "try and reason with him"? I sided with Kenny on everything in EP1, including his fight with Larry, but when the fight first started I told him to try and reason with him. In EP2 he gave me a hard time about being against Duck (or something along those lines).

There was a bug that caused a wrong transfer of your choices between episode 1 and 2. I don't know if they fixed it with the third episode. If not, it may be the case.

They actually do mean something. Different things play out, no matter how big or small. If you don't appreciate the different things that play out than TWDG isn't the game for you or you're expected WAY too much out of TWDG. If you want the choices to matter go make your own fucking game. :p

I don't disagree with you but this is such a dumb thing to say.

That's like saying you're not allowed to criticize your meal at a restaurant because you're not a chef. You don't have to be a writer to dislike a book / filmmaker to dislike a movie / game dev to dislike a game.

Was there any official word on this? Do you think I'll have to replay Episode 1 again to overcome it?

This was how my first playthrough worked out, but I ended up telling Larry to fuck off when he couldn't be reasoned with anyhow. Kenny told me he was grateful after the fact, but in Episode 2 he gave me a similar speech. This time I said "It's either Duck or him, and I say it's him".

Still he says I let him down somehow when I asked if I could tag along in his RV, which is why I suspected there was some kind of bug.

If you have a PC version on a 64-bit computer, you may try this fix:
    http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31140
    or this:
    http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=31481712
The first method worked for me, but only after I deleted all saves and started from the beginning. The second method may work without restarting the game, but I didn't test it. It is dedicated for Steam, but I think it works with other PC versions too.
I don't know if this bug appears on mac, consoles or ipad.

This isn't Mass Effect or Dragon Age - those games pander to the player and give them complete control over everything, which just results in people who feel they're entitled to similar things when playing a different game.

In TWDG, stuff happens that you have no control over, just like real life.

Cute meme, Carley/Doug would hardly be considered anyone's character considering they're absent in episode 2 and do nothing in 3. gold star for effort though

Continue being unable to take criticism though! <3

Have you been reading the forum today? Half the thread are about Carley's demise. And how can you say who people's favourite characters are? Are you privy to some cosmic knowledge that enables you access to every individual players' thoughts?

Welcome to life in the zombie apocalypse, where people still die horrifically even though you said something nice to some guy 3 months ago.

I do get people's complaints about choices not having much effect, but they DO have an effect on how people react to you and how they react to the world around them. Just like in real-life, your choices effect how people treat you but they rarely make significant changes in the world around you.

It sounds like the OP was a victim of a well known bug. During the episode 1 standoff between Larry and Kenny, if you select the line "try to reason with him", Kenny will think you didn't help him during episode 2. The 'try to reason' line is unusually dominant, to the point where that's all Kenny remembers even if you were picking a fistfight with Larry over Duck on the very next dialogue option.

Carley was so absent from episode 2, that she even saved my life...twice, in that episode. Gosh, what would happen if she actually appeared in that episode? The Zombie Apocalypse surely would be over. DAMN YOU TELLTALE!

And thank god she did nothing in Episode 3, like talking me into telling the group everything, or giving me hope that there still is something like "human feelings" and that she died...but dying is also nothing.

Now that I think about it and reread what you have typed.. that seems like SOMETHING to me.
Carley was like..a different experience than Doug, and like...yknow. Like.
    Yeah... Yeah! YEAAAH!!
