[SPOILERS]So... what do you think is gonna happen to Kenny?

edited September 2012 in The Walking Dead
I'm pretty sure I didn't see a thread like this about Kenny (most are about Carley and Ben), so I was wondering, what do you people think is gonna happen to Kenny from now on?

I mean, the man just lost what was the most important thing to him. All the choices he ever made, he had his family's safety in mind, and now they're gone.
I've seen people saying he might commit suicide, but really, that would make it an overplayed card in the game, and although he is fairly depressed, Kenny doesn't strike me as the kind of man who would just kill himself... but I'm pretty sure that since he has nothing left to live for, he is gonna do something stupid.

Some people have said that Kenny might snap at Ben if the latter tells him what he did, and I can actually see that happening. If it came to that, though, I'd have to try and calm him down, and if it became worse, I'd have to take Ben's side, because I don't wanna see that kid dying anytime soon, don't want Doug's sacrifice to be in vain...

Personally, I think Kenny will stick around for a while, even though he's probably gonna do something that might jeopardize him or the group...

So... thoughts, speculations? C'mon people, this is my first thread =]

If he finds out about what Ben did, he'll flip shit. Otherwise, I can see Kenny being the 'noble sacrifice' of the group, considering, as you said, he has nothing to live for.

To be entirely honest though, after sometime, he seemed to collect himself pretty well. He may be a bit darker morally speaking, but I don't see him getting himself killed.

Kenny without his family lost alot of his motivation until he finds something to protect he won't be as jerkish as he was before. Once he finds something to love and protect again he will die which will most likely be episode 5

Also, from the trailer for episode 4, I remember Kenny telling us to just leave Omid behind, since he has broken a leg or something, I could see Christa starting an argument with him for obvious reasons, but it probably wouldn't get as bad as the "Kenny vs. Lilly"

This defense of Ben is the most mind-boggling turn of events ever.

    Haha, what do you mean?

Ok, this guy gets brought into your camp out purely out of pity for what happened to his teacher. He's timid as a mouse, scared of women. All he does his sit on that RV and they still got ambushed...this whole story with the bandits? This dude is scared of his own shadow, but had the balls to single-handedly work out a deal with bandits in the dark (Im assuming since no one had any idea of this, he did while they were asleep) but wait...on top of all this: He tells no one.
So in a ZA where resources are already tight, he didnt think Lily the control freak wouldnt notice a single pill missing?
Or maybe he just thought those supply runs were so easy and plentifulthat no one would ever notice this is going on?
Or maybe he just figured he could handle this on his own?
So on top of timid, he's a liar, untrusting of the group and was willing to let someone else take the fall rather than own up to his own blunder.
None of this is worthy of death (in Lee's eyes, Kenny may have a different opinion) but he has now earned himself the lowest spot on the totem pole.
He definitely killed D/C with his silence at the RV and if he didnt get mixed with those bandits, the ambush and ensuing walkers at the motel could have been avoided, saving Duck which would have saved Kat

    wrong thread?

Anyway, I think he's gonna go full emo, everyone's gonna get pissed that he's dragging his feet and he just leaves, maybe steal the boat or something.

    wrong thread?

um...ya. weird hth did I end up in here?

Ah I remember now- one thing I keep forgetting about Ep3 is that only Lee knows about Ben.
So ya, as soon as Ep 4 starts up, Im running right over to Kenny: "Dude, remember that raid where we got ambushed and Duck got bit?" Then I'll step back and watch Kenny go medieval on Ben,
but I for some reason I see Chuck getting into the middle of all this and killing Kenny...why?
Cause it would be the least expected thing out of Chuck

That's one way to see things. My point of view on his actions is completely different... well, I did ask what you meant, but I won't defend the boy and make this a Ben thread, and while I do enjoy seeing people talk about their points of view on a subject, I was kinda hoping there would be more speculation about Kenny's future, but it doesn't seems to be working very well ._.

I honestly think Kenny is now a lost cause. He just doesn't care anymore. He's practically a walking bag of meat. I mean he's had everything thrown at him and he combated that with denial and anger. (Hell we all have our ways coping with stress.) But losing his wife and son was the final thing that made him snap. I honestly believe he's dying in the next episode, maybe to save Lee and Clem. Or maybe because he's just had enough.

Either way I think its going to be a bloody end to Kenny.

Which I guess you could say is a mercy considering what he has to live with.

Really? I think Kenny could eventually get over it, just like Rick got over all the shit that has ever happened to him (well, he did have Carl, but still...), provided, of course, Kenny lives long enough... but yeah, he might end up doing something stupid and dying before he has a chance to get over the death of his family, but who knows? On the trailer, he seems to have gotten over his depression, and appears to be in a state of anger, or something like that... wouldn't surprise me if Lee died and Kenny lived though, really.

the question arises - what does he have left to live for?

maybe he will have a redeeming moment.

the group will be stuck with no way out, and it looks like they are all going to die. that's when Kenny decides to save everyone - by sacrificing himself.
for example, getting into a car and driving it into something that explodes. the explosion kills a bunch of walkers and causes a big enough distraction for the rest of the group to get away.

The poor guy will probably get bitten. He's still depressed, which makes him prone and weak for walkers.

TTG kinda hit below the belt with this one; people want to see Kenny get whats comin to him and him alone; and really all I want is for Lee to give him a good chewing out (maybe a punch in the eye) and let them walk off their separate if they choose to. Taking out his entire family, his driving force throughout the series. Lame.

Many people here now hate Ben more than Hitler.

I think Kenny will survive, guys like him seem to make it a long time in these types of situations. I think he'll come close to death at least once, maybe even have a time when everyone thinks he's dead because he goes all Kamikaze on some walkers or something but then he shows up fit as a fiddle and even saves the day.
  • edited September 2012
Well, I guess that when Kenny reaches the stage where he starts being an asshole to everyone else, I'd like to see Lee chewing him out, but I'd like him to stay with the group. But yeah, it's gonna be difficult to keep Kenny now because as you said, he lost his driving force, he would need to find another purpose to live... or who knows, he might end up being the only one that makes it through season 1, but in a way that makes it look like he died, and appear as the new magical hobo for season 2, surprising all the players =P

OMG! Chuck is Kenny from the future!

They said that episode 4 is meant to have something which takes all your other decisions, I think it'll be to do with clem

I think that Ken will become unhinged and die. If you notice, only Clem really is on the teaser picture for episode 5... Kenny has pretty much been around in all of the other ones.

    Phone man maybe?

Actually I think the complete opposite--Since Hobo Chuck shares a drink with Captain Kenny, I imagine they'll actually become buds...along with Urban Lee, of course.
I'm not sure about telling Cpt. Ken about Slim Ben. I'll let Ben screw up first or Kenny figure it out. Then gang up on Slim.

I imagine Kenny might actually become a lot like Jim from the comics. Both lost their family, and both continued the struggle to survive. Kenny will get that boat, since he's so keen about the coast. It's his plan, so he'll stick to it like he told Lee. Who knows?
  • edited September 2012
I think you're right. Actually, come to think of it, that plan is all that remains. Take away Kenny's plan to get the boat, and what is left? What would he do, no family, no plan, there would be absolutely nothing left to Kenny. I think he will go against any other plan you might have (which I think actually happens in episode 4's trailer?) and would even leave the group just for the sake of getting the boat and proving himself that he succeded at doing something after failing his family (that's probably how he feels right now?). That makes sense, he will get the boat or die trying.

ya but that plan was to get his family on that boat, looking at Kenny at the end of Ep3 if he got a boat now it would be to jump off it into the ocean.
TTGs does this all the time- they make characters who are assholes (to you) and then once they've given you enough shit and you get a chance to retailiate TTG puts them in a vulnerable place so that for you to get your just deserts, would look like kicking a man when he's down

I'm shooting Kenny or sacrificing him if i get the chance, that way only Clem knows who i used to be. Not everyone trust a convicted felon or will forgive me being with a child just because "things got out of hand.'

    Lol, no.
But the fact that i am a once convicted felon may hurt Clems chances of being safe from my mistakes.

Kenny's going out in a blaze of glory.
  • edited September 2012
Kenny will be around to the final episode. The remaining members of the group will get to the coast, find a boat that won't start. Kenny will climb aboard, sit behind the wheel and wait for Lee to do all the work to figure out why the motor won't start. Lee will have to dive under the boat, in an attempt to fix the problem. This whole time, a herd of walkers will be shuffling down the street towards their location. Lee fixes the problem with the motor, at which point Kenny fires it up and pulls away from the coast, leaving the rest of the group standing there cursing his name, as the walkers close in. Kenny looks back as he sails away, then looks at the door to the cabin below deck as it opens and a half-dozen walkers emerge.... :p

My hope- Lee and Kenny and Clem all escape and find a army safe zone and Kenny finds a new family.

My expectation- Kenny goes out in a blaze of glory, chopping apart zombies and and screaming Duck and Katjaas name.

I thought Kenny was a commercial fisherman. Just get him to a boat he'll be fine. His first love is the sea anyways.

If Kenny flips out and Kills Ben then heads off in a boat that would be win-win for me. I despise both of them. Kenny for leaving me to die on multiple occasions and Ben for being a traitor.
  • edited September 2012
I think Kenny will become a hardcore zombie terminator.

With Duck and Kat gone, he has only Lee and Clem and some dead weight.

I could see him focusing on Lee/Clem as surrogates for what he lost.

And we all know Kenny is hardcore when it comes to protecting people that matter to him.
  • edited September 2012
Depends. Is a man measured by his motivation, or does having nothing to lose free him?
  • edited September 2012
Well, Kat had him help Lee/Clem on more than one occasion... he'd probably do it because he'd know Kat would want him to.

It seems Kat/Duck were his only motivation.
  • edited September 2012
With K/D gone he may just give up, surviving was all for them, he sacrificed for them and now that they're gone he may feel as if he has no one. He still won't shut up about that damn boat though, I feel like he might leave us or die defending us.
  • edited September 2012
Well, I kind of like him more now that he is totally depressed and dispossessed. He seems to have stopped looking down on Lee(not caring about his past and bullying Lee around). At least for the moment.

Hard to tell how he'll act in the future. Possibly he'll find some nutty way to pin the blame on Lee over what happened to his family, especially if you shot Duck yourself. Or maybe he'll just kill himself in the sewers once his dream of sailing to the sunset is finally crushed.

    In any case, he'll die.
  • edited September 2012
who knows he may even redirect energy and make his new purpose in life to help Lee and *his* (temp) family now escape

    That depends on the man.

Oh, I wondered why this thread disappeared. Yay, more reading.

Kenny dedicated everything to family. I can't imagine he won't spend the next episode wholly out of it.
