Prisoner of Monkey Island

I'm in NO WAY affiliated with this guy who's making what he calls "Monkey Island 2.5", but I wanted to show you this screenshot because it reminded me how I used to imagine the beginning of Monkey Island 3 when I was a little kid. I imagined it JUST LIKE THIS, really! :D
Enjoy

Err... more or less, maybe.

Sure, but keep in mind that his website TOTALLY sucks! :D
It doesn't even have an english version, too bad...
There's even a demo, but my monitor won't support it (out of frequency )
    Anyway, here it goes: http://www.gigi77.altervista.org/

I feel like being good today, so here's my translation of the presentation to the project. :D This guy obviously thinks a lot of what I've already said endless times in the forum :p
"I've always wondered what really happened after the final scene of the second episode of the saga; I've always had the impression, playing the third episode, that there's a part of the story that hasn't been told, like a lot of things happened before Guybrush found himself deep in the Caribbeans inside a... toy car!!! MI 2.5's aim is just this: creating a link between the two episodes and make clearer some doubts that haunted the fans' minds for years!
The game will be made with AGS 2.6 by Chris Jones.
The graphical look will be entirely made with Photoshop CS, ambients and characters.
There will be new islands (with new graphics and sounds) and locations that we already know well.
The release date is expected for spring 2007 ()."
    I like the clock. :)
Ahah yeah, the Java clock is cool, I must admit it!:D

    I don't think so. :(
Anyway I could contact this guy to translate the website and the game (if it will ever be released, I don't trust that much in fangames) in english.
The idea is good, it's a shame they didn't do anything for foreign fans.
For example, Zak2 isn't just in german!

I detected no virus, but the demo just doesn't work

Maybe its a case of the demo just plain not working? Has anyone been able to play it ever? O_o...just a thought...

However, very interesting idea...though I must admit it was a long period of time between me playing 2 and 3 so I dont recall the difference in storylines as he mentions...but meh...I cant really argue...but, either way, anything monkey island has to be good...XD

Edit: Is it just me, or would it be really freaky sometimes trying to fall asleep while a giant monkey head is seemingly devouring your bed?

The only major plothole between the games is that at the end of MI2, Guybrush is revealed to be a little kid, and "Chuckie" is his brother, and the start of Monkey Island 3 is Guybrush floating about writing about escaping from LeChuck's "Carnival of the Damned".

To be honest, it isn't really that well explained in the game. Judging from the second to last Act in MI3, LeChuck turned Guybrush into a kid for real at the end of MI2 as well (but how he turned back into an adult is a mystery =/).

The brotherhood between Guybrush and LeChuck always fascinated me, I' sorry that this aspect was just ignored in the sequels.
One thing I don't understand: why does the skull of Guybrush's dad work to make a voodoo doll if they aren't ACTUALLY brothers?
And why does Walt the dog steal LeChuck's arm? We all obviously imagined that it would have been used for bringing him back to life or for some crappy voodoo rite :D Nothing, everything was ignored! Not to mention the E-ticket.
There's something big under all of this, I'm sure.

    Hi guys!
    The team is all italian.
The demo you find on the website right now is not the definitive with new screens. It is just the old demo!
I'd like to tell you that we are finishing the new version of the demo with the graphic of the screenshot you've seen. After a little time we'll release the full game, also in english version. Firstly we make the demo and the full version of Monkey island 2.5 and secondly we'll release the english version, so that you can enjoy this game!
When we'll finished the game we'll release a version with also vocal-dialogs, in italian and after in english (for this we need english guys!)
News will be leaved to you as possible!
We don't tell you any date of release because we don't want to fake you, so whe the game will be ready, it will be released!
    Thanks for the attention!

Why is it that any time something goes wrong with a computer, we blame it on a virus. When really, more then half the time, its a glitch.
  • edited August 2007
I know how to make the demo work. Its in RAR format so you need tp down WinRAR (Download the top one)

WinRAR will make the demo work, but when I go to download the demo it says there is an error.

Usually when something goes wrong with a file I've downloaded, I'll start to have suspicions of a virus if it's a site I've never downloaded from before/I don't trust. Sorry!

Cool, I was just enlightened about what really happened in MI2, at least I think! Remember Guybrush's dream? Ok, it wasn't a dream at all as we know, because he actually wrote the bone song on the paper.
So during the dream/non dream, LeChuck really destroyed Guybrush's spiritual essence and everything changed from that point on (of course I can't say HOW).
That's what I can rationally think of, strange thing I never thought it before!
That also cheers me up from thinking Guybrush was only a little kid who was just dreaming pirates stories, it would have been terrible. :D

I always like to think that the Carnival of the damned sort of trapped Guybrush in a halucination, which he managed to break free of some how utilizing a bumper carts ride.

I never liked that Monkey Island 3 took the end of MI2 as literally as it did - that there was some sort of voodoo that made Guybrush turn into a kid... but anything involving his parents or brother were totally left behind. It seemed a bit weird to keep one sliver of the end of 2 around, but conveniently ignore the rest. Oh well.

Weird to be posting that on the Telltale forum.

Anyway I agree at all, that's one of the reasons why I always bother people with this MI3 matter ;)
