Is the style of font used for Sam & Max a pre-existing font or was it designed by Telltale?

I'm asking because I saw it used for an ad for makeup in a store and wondering if they ripped it off

The new font seems to be something called Motel King. I'm more curious about the name of the font of the logo before it. I'm sure I've seen it other places I can't remember anymore and I can't find anything about the font of the Freelance Police logo at all.
