A Vampyre Story

edited February 2011 in General Chat
Another hopefully great adventure (non episodic!) looking forward to this year! Bill Eakon isn't Don Bluth, it's a different style, but nevertheless i somehow had to think of Dragon's Lair instantly. Must be this castle, ahhhh... :O)

There is another thread on this a few threads down.
It's Curse of Monkey Island if anything, since it's the same background artist

Monkey Island rings other bells inside me. If you know the opening scene of Dragon's Lair then you might know what i mean. By the way they've released a blu-ray version too, so once LBP is out, the PS3 is an interesting device or if you'r more the Xbox guy, take Bioshock and Dragon's Lair. If you already own a laser disc palyer, well, you're safe already... :O)

I watched the Games Convention trailer. Looks very, very promising. Can't wait!

    The voice acting seems marvelous.

I cross my fingers that this won't be only just another okayish casual adventure. From the stills and the video it looks very promising so far. Sometimes the perspectives are a bit extreme but the colours are beautiful and an interesting setting with new characters.

Just in case someone missed their little video...

I wasn't too impressed with the trailer. Hopefully we get to see some gameplay soon.

Hey Haggis, that Q&A was a good read, thanks.

Same goes for the AG.com one. Man do I hope Vampyre Story sells well. I know I'll buy it regardless of quality, though I'm pretty certain it'll be easily good enough for me to buy either way.

i personally think that they should use pre-rendered character animations instead of the low poly character models because they look quite wrong on top of those great backgrounds. if they use pre-rendered animation the quality could be way better and they can even shade it to mimic the style of the backgrounds.

I’m very disappointed with the trailer they showed, i was hoping to see something similar to the initial screens they showed with the drawn characters, or at least fluid character animation.

Well, i just had to check what's up with A Vampyre Story II and stumbled above this one. I hope that things finally turn out fine for them with A Vampyre Story Year One and that he gets a chance to do his retro sf adventure game. I liked A Vampyre Story, it was one of the better adventures and whilst not beeing perfect it felt really good.

I think you just raised up a nearly-four-year-old thread.

And still it's on topic, fascinating, isn't it?!

i just tried replaying a bit of this game today, I don't think I ever finished it the first place...
I didn't really want to click on anything because I was fearful of the long, tedious dialog that followed and I especially hate Mona's voice urggh

I remember that i had my problems getting into her voice in the beginning but after some time i liked it. I wouldn't want her to sound different now.
