if 28 days later counts as a zombie film i pick that, if not, zombieland, but i would sort of put them in a sequel category, which to me means the older films are a part of the reason why i like it.
I like most of those on that list but my two favourites aren't on there and those are Shaun of the Dead and Land of the Dead.
I suppose I could say Zombieland comes in at #3 purely for their rule set. If there's ever a ZA I will assume TWD's zombie behavioural rules (noise attracts them, have to destroy the brain) and abide by the rules from Zombieland. Foolproof safety plan!

yeah it has practical advice and its funny, their zombies can move a bit faster than normal zombies, but Bill Murray
I like almost all of the ones listed (except resident evil which I despise, and I haven't even heard of REC) but I ended up going with dawn of the dead, of the ones with remakes it's the only one where I like both versions.
Was hard to choose a favorite because I like most for different reasons like night of the living dead as the origional. Dawn of the dead was awesome. But I voted for Zombieland.
Even though the dont really belong there I picked 28 days later. They werent zombies in the true sense but... that speed and those eyes...scared the shit outta me like no zombie ever has to this day.
Shaun of the Dead, I'll always remember, every time he replayed how the group would make it back to the Winchester, it always ended in that sly wink and cheers lol
Original Dawn of the Dead. Because who doesn't love a zombie movie that satirizes consumerism?
Bonus points for original Night of the Living Dead for holding out to the final moment to reveal its true agenda. Because who doesn't love a zombie movie that's really about racism?
Honorable mention to 28 Days Later for reanimating the corpse reintroducing the virus. Demerit to 28 Days Later for inspiring Hack Snyder to put fast zombies in that really shitty remake of my vote that kept the mall but left out the consumerism.
you know that the black guy got shot cause they thought he was a zombie right? His clothes were all bloody and he walked with a limp from his injuries. I can see why you'd put those 2 together cause they were in the deep south but...
lol Hack Snyder

That's because, as a western white, I'm racist against southern whites. You know that whole opening scene in Idiocracy? That's like my Birth of a Nation. This post is gonna get me in trouble.

lol I agree on Idiocracy- it may have been labeled a comedy but by the end of the movie I was like 'omfg this is not that far off our current course'
Gutsy. I was perfectly willing to hate it, but it's surprisingly good. The weakest part is the ridiculous actor playing the husband who wants to barricade the basement, but Pat Tallman is a very good actor, and her version of Barbara SPOILERSPOILER turning into a major ass kicker was terrific. I also thought the new version showing how the living had needlessly barricaded themselves in (and how the noise they made in so doing drew all the zombies in the area to them) was subtle and very well handled.
What movie ends with a zombie head screaming "BRAINS!" then someone torches it with a flamethrower - then the zombie says "Okay. You win. No more brains."

That would be Return of the Living Dead 2. That series has some hilarious scenes.

I don't consider 28 Days Later a zombie flick.
This! Mind if I add it to the poll? Definitely my pick!

That's right, I went there.

A movie that shaped a genre! I like most of the others as well though!
Shaun of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead are excellent too.
Zombieland was freaking awesome.
28 days comes a close second.
Zombieland is a good one to.
But i think the walking dead series is the best and biggest favorite.

And 28 days later isn't a zombie movie.
Overweight people would be so screwed
