Clem's death - Anyone see this?

edited October 2012 in The Walking Dead
Yet again, i'm playing through ep 3 trying to look for spoilers. In the train station when Lee boosts Clem over the fence she is trapped with a walker. Lee's gun skids under the door for Clem to get a hold of. She freezes up and doesn't help Lee kill the walkers after him.

As an experiment I went back and looked to see if she got me the keys and if I didn't open the door, if she would shoot the walker coming after her. The walker takes about 20 seconds to get to her so I just waited. Lone behold she did nothing and is overtaken by the walker.

Anyway I frapsed it to see what she would do, and the outcome broke my heart. I can post vid if anyone wants.

    That's horrible! Don't wanna. I'm glad I didn't test that one.

i wanted to make her shoot it, it would have been cool to at least tell her to, it does take a while for it to get to her

I think she could learn to use a gun without fear, maybe giving her the advice not to be afraid after all that could help in the upcoming future? I mean, I can see her dying many other ways, but I think the scene in the train station won't repeat itself.

I told her to learn to just pull the trigger. There is never gonna be a way to get anyone to stop fearing the dead. IMO

What the hell...In situations like these, Lee is ALWAYS supposed to die. Not someone else...

Ironically, at the end it says You are Dead.

Glad I didn't wait to see if she would kill the thing.

It's kinda hard to see but it looks like when he sticks his arm through the bars the zombie grabbed hold of his hand/arm. Either way Clementine dying would be a major change in story arc, especially if it had happened in Act 3 considering majority of the characters we grew to know ended up dying or being exiled. Any game has it's limits, if Clementine had died at this stage two major story arcs would be non-existent in the third episode, the mysterious stranger, and the possibility of her parents (or mother) being alive.

That scream is terrible! I'm going to have nightmares now.
  • edited September 2012
Argh... not going to watch that one. I don't want to see Clem hurt :(

I wanted to let her do it herself too. "Learn by doing." Instead THIS happened. And after I had so much trouble with the previous scene and rewound to let her do it herself.

Oh god, that's chilling. My stomach felt like lead there.

I told her when Duck was being taken care of that 'that will never happen to her' and I mean it.

    I shan't allow it.

It didn't phase me--I guess i've seen worse in games :(

Guys I just realised, if we keep bumping this thread we're going to scare the pants off of someone who came onto the forum recently, because they would just see "Clem's Death" in the spoiler forum.

They shouldn't go to the spoiler forums then, should they? redsmiley01.png

Plot armor. Why is the 'game over' when Lee didnt die?

Because that would mean your actions actually mattered. And they had to write a different branch of story not involving clementine anymore.

So instead, anything that would naturally cause a different result than forced ends in a "You Are Dead"-Screen.

The directness of your answer is refreshing.

I'll hang around and wait for the more common replies of 'How can u lief without Clem!!!111'

Maybe because the objective of the game is more than just survival?

    In a ZA?
    Illogical

I agree and disagree. Yes, having choices matter would imply that we can make wrong decisions and be forced to live with them, but Clementine serves a very specific purpose in the game and story. If you have an option that removes that which motivates Lee or drives the story, does the game really matter anymore?

So there's reasons to add more choices and reasons to remove choices. I, for one, think that in episode 5, Clem should be able to die. I want multiple endings where Clem lives or dies by your choices. Episode 3 (and even 4) are too soon for that.

To me it appears that Lee gets grabbed by the walker as you see him reaching in then being forcibly pulled against the bars. I just presumed that either he gets bitten or his arm is ripped off.

Either way, perhaps a 'Game Over' screen would have been more appropriate rather than the 'You Are Dead" screen.

I...don't know. I agree with the person above. Clem's screams kind of sound like a monkeys.

    No offence to Clementine.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way.

what else is there to do in a ZA ? survive ? repopulate ? adapt ?

clem being young has more potential to the above better and of course she could be part of the 'cure'

    children are the future...

So it wasn't just me then :)

It reminded me of a nature documentary which showed chimps hunting small monkeys. Clem's screams sounded eerily familiar to the noises that were made as they ripped apart the little monkeys.

it sounded legit to me, proper screams, so maybe you're thinking it's monkeys cos you don't want to believe a child was hurt to get it or mature actress was capable of screaming like a child ?

it seemed to me the woman who does clem was doing it, must of took some practise lol
  • edited September 2012
I refuse to go back and listen to it again >.< was too horrible the first time, and wasn't looking for monkeys. lol

I believe a kid would pull the trigger even if she did not hit the head she would have shot at the zombie.

    I did it too.

I sat in a corner while hugging my legs for a while.
