Ranking Dead (Ranking the episodes)
Keep in mind that I do not hate this game by any means. I think each have their strengths and weaknesses but I haven't found a real reason to hate any of them. Just curious to see what everyone though about the episodes and why. Here's my two cents:
1. Episode 2- Aside from the somewhat cliche twist, I think this is still my favorite so far. The characters were given depth, the choices had moral weight, the tension kept a good pace, the dialogue was strong, it established the idea of episode themes I commented on and it had some of the most powerful scenes in the whole game. Even the way the twist played out still felt organic as the terrific third act progressed.
2. Episode 1- A great introduction. Built a strong foundation for the characters, delivered many tense moments, great art, a fun hotel sequence and a great ending. Only one really "powerful" moment to speak of but still very enjoyable.
3. Episode 3- No, it's not because of the deaths. I was fine with those. And to be positive, the characters continued to grow, they gave a little more gameplay variety, there were two incredibly powerful sequences, the voice acting continues to improve and the art is still great. My complaints focus on two things. The first is Omid and Christa. Along with being introduced too late, they don't feel developed or likable enough to care what happens to them. And the second is the actual ending. After a terrific and tragic high point, we end the episode with a rather routine "throw a bunch of zombies to chase them" scene. And because the final big choice didn't really change anything yet, there wasn't any real peril. If that and Duck's scene would have switched places, it would have been a better way to send off the episode I think.

And unless something that doesn't surprise me/make me feel emotions happens in episode 4 this wont change--it would have to have been massive and make me disappointed.
Episode 2 was pretty much the epitome of what The Walking Dead is about in my opinion. People struggling to survive bleak situations, more often than not, brought on by their own kind.
Episode 3 ranked up the drama and emotion which, again, plays a huge part in TWD universe.
Episode 1 comes last, not because it was bad (I adored it in truth), but purely because it's the first episode and it was bound to be the foundation stone for the series.
I just hope they're going to keep on delivering (maybe on time) with the final two episodes!
I vote 2>3>1 as well.
Episode 2 is my favorite because, while I figured out the cannibal thing early on, when we first met the St Johns and I didn;t know if they could be trusted it was fun to fish for information while giving out tidbits of our own. The choices there were the toughest of the season so far, another big plus. In fact, I was so unsure of what I did in the meat locker that I blamed myself for Carley's death because I killed Lilly's dad right in front of her. And the final brawl with Andy in the storm was just epic. 10/10, would play again.
