Rating Walking Dead..

edited September 2012 in The Walking Dead
So while I wait for an answer about system requirements, I have another question. Is this game even worth buying? What would you rate it out of ten?

Rate each episode seperately or all of them as a whole, which ever you prefer.

    1: 7,5
    2: 8,0.
    3 7,0

    Total 7,5.

Great story, and lots of technical issues as for example erased save games, tons on stuttering even with my build at 1024x768 ( i5 2500k, 5870, 8gb gskill, WD RE3 1TB 7200RPM, W7 X64), maybe with a nvidia card and an SSD you could avoid these problems.

Well I'm playing on a Ps3, so we have some problems but not the same as PC's or Xbox.

Anyways though, my scores for the episode are

    1. 8
    2. 8.75
    3. 8.5

It's a good game, though I heard Pc gamers have been losing saves :\

Yea, I'm from Aus so I think PC is my only way to go...

Do the game saves get corrupted that easily? That could be a problem...

with my experience, each episode is worth the money you put into it but for ratings

    episode 1 : 8

episode 2 : 9 (note: I was so emotionally exhausted after playing episode 2 that I had to stop and save episode 3 for another day)

    episode 3: 8.5

    Episode 1: 8.0
    Episode 2: 8.5
    Episode 3: 9.0

I thought episode 3 was the best so far. Okay, so they killed a lot of people on the episode. But because of that I felt way more emotionally worn out than in episode 2, which was still pretty freaking epic... but episode 2 didn't really present very tough decisions to me, at least.

And the only bug I experienced was the 'erased savegame' bug, and because of that I had to replay the game picking all the same choices. But the quality of the story completely makes up for it.

Episode 1: 7.0 (Do not expect too much. It is just the beginning, but it is still great)
    Episode 2: 9.5
    Episode 3: 9.5

Sure, the "erased savegame" bug is annoying, but there is a way to fix it. So it does not really bother me to be honest.

Yeah that sounds pretty good. I'll use your ratings as my own. The story is pretty good and if they had not billed the game as some kinda ever evolving story choose your own adventure the game would be better in my eyes.

Hmm, I am not a big fan of scores as I don't think numbers can show enjoyment, but

Episode 1:8.5/10, had its issues(more specifically, none of the choices were good, not that they didn't matter, they just weren't good, and there almost always WAS a right answer that you just weren't allowed to do), but its a fantastic start to the series and was very tense in most scenes.

Episode 2:10/10, Yeah, this episode is one of my favorite telltale episodes ever(next to Sam and Max:Tomb of Sammonmak and Monkey Island:Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood), it does everything Walking Dead is known for perfectly. Good drama, the characters are the threat, not the walkers, I actually have scenes burned into my head because of how disturbing they are, something the comics barely do, and actually had some decent choices.

Episode 3:8.5/10. It has two very emotional and touching scenes, and then a whole bunch of nothing! The two scenes are also back to back even. It just gets the 8.5 because those two scenes were REALLY touching, and it was just more Walking Dead still which I love, the finale was really boring though compared to the big fight scene of episode 2.

EDIT:As a game, so far 9/10, it loses that point for the release issue, and while some would lower it even more for the choice issue, I know its impossible to actually make the story change that much, and besides, its "tailor made", you may have a tailor made shirt, but it's still a shirt! It just has your personal touches to it, like this game.

Episode 1 - 9.0 - But only because I am a sucker for the "beginning" of a zombie epic.

    Episode 2 - 7.0 - I didn't like it. I still don't know why.

Episode 3 - 9.5 - Despite losing some favorite NPCs, this one nailed the "you're screwed" feel of the zombie genre.

    Episode 1 - 9.5 - Compelling story, unique visuals

    Episode 2 - 8.5 - Noticeable bugs

    Episode 3 - 8.5 - Noticeable bugs

Ep 1 will remain a 9/9.5 in my book. Maybe because it was the freshness of the series; maybe because the 'choices' had more meat to them
(Leaving at night was totally different from a daytime departure; the double choice between Sean/Duck and Carley/Doug); and the sheer desperation they were all in felt very real

    1.9 (the best one)
    2. 8
    3. 8.5

Thanks, so far it's looking good. Yes I youtube part 1 of episode 1 and I loved the way the game opened. Zombies scare the crap out of me, but the level of immersion the game allows for via choices makes it a "must have" for me, despite it being chock-full of zombies.

Getting a desktop to run it properly. I fear I have many sleepless nights ahead of me... lol

I know a lot of people comment on lost saves, but I have never had that issue.

I play on Xbox and PC. Neither of them have ever lost my saves or any glitches that caused problems. Just saying, these dont happen to everyone!

No need to go episode by episode for me, 9.5.

Episode 1: 8.5- Really great introduction, characters and tension.

Episode 2: 9.0- Some of the best moments in the whole game. Terrific writing and acting.

Episode 3: 8.0- Some of the best moments in the game coupled with probably the weakest finale.

Great series overall. Overall complaint is technical hiccups, engine limitations and performance issues.

Episode 1 - 8.5 - A great beginning of a great story. Pretty good for an introduction episode.
Episode 2 - 9.5 - The best episode so far in my book. Amazing story, disturbing choices, great drama and the meat locker scene. I absolutely love the meat locker scene. This episode showed how fucking awesome Lilly is :D
Episode 3 - 9.0 - Great story telling, nice follow up to the great ep. 2. The atmosphere in ep. 3 was just crushing. You could literally feel the desperation in the air. A bit weaker second part as compared to the first.

As a whole I'll give the game 9/10. I don't judge a game by its bugs. I've never had problems with it, but even if I did, that wouldn't make me like the game any less. Story telling, gameplay and general tone and themes of the game are the most important things for me.
For example for me one of the best RPGs that were ever made is Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, and you can hardly find a game that has more bugs than this one :D

P.S I absolutely love the visual style of TWD. It's incredible awesome :D

The game is good, around 8. The controls for pc are crap. Like they ran out of money to make the controls work proper

Each episode, for their many weaknesses and absurdities (man has a heart attack--let's search for batteries!) gets a failing grade, though the second episode is better than the first and third because, once I became acquainted with the game's shortcomings, I could more readily navigate around those shortcomings. The key hunts of the train then the tanker in the third episode along with the incomprehensible key mapping of the train station zombie kills made that episode eyerollingly bad.

The story's keeping me around, as are the debates on moral choices, but if the episodes get any worse I'm gone. Take this turkey out of TWD universe and this game ships 10,000 copies and vanishes within a week. Sorry.
