An Episode taking place in the dead of night

I know that two of the episodes had portions of the gameplay taking place during a nighttime setting, but would anyone want an episode taking place primarily in the dead of night where the atmosphere is how episode 2 ended, but with more of an eery silence and sense of pure abandonment?

It's been great playing in various times of the day, but I think that having an episode primarily at night in a dark and desolate city would really up the general creepiness of the series. Episode 1 was partially at night, but it still had the city lights to illuminate the areas before the ending. Many zombie games that I know of also don't really seem to embrace a nighttime setting and instead go in favor of more well lit areas.

The preview seems to hint at a a daylight setting again, but the trailers are never really indicative of the final product, and could easily transition into night. I would personally love an episode where Savannah is basically a pitch black city where you have to investigate in the dead at night for a good portion, using flashlights to investigate the sewer systems while dealing with walkers and these unknown figures from the trailer. It doesn't have to be the whole episode, but I think that would really make for a truly creepy experience with walkers and those mysterious people out there looking for you.

Any thoughts on this? Would anyone like a more dark induced atmosphere for one or both of the last two episodes?

I like it but usually episodes start in the morning and go to the night. Even than time passes in the game, every episode has had parts when it is morning, afternoon, and night.

So if it started at night in episode 4, it'll be morning through the episode at one point.

I would like this idea. Maybe not in episode 4, we'll have to see for episode 5. It would be awesome for episode 5 to end with the sun rising.

    *sun illuminates corpses. Clem cries*

In episode five, shit should REALLY hit the fan for the survivors. At least two-three characters die, and the rest have to fight a seemingly infinite amount of walkers. I’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again: It should be like either Triggerfinger or Beside the Dying Fire.

Savvanah is already pretty creepy with no walkers in sight. I would just LOVE for it to be pitch black night! The creepiness would be everywhere, no light, no escape, no hope...

You got that right... it "looks" safe.. but you just know it isn't... *cue increasing tension*

Walkers can be hiding in the place you least expect ;)

On a sidenote, I enjoy the idea of Ep 5 starting in the dead of the night and ending with the sun rising, illuminating the gruesome remains of a used to be survivor.

nightime adventures are fine, as long as they keep the action bright enough to see.. I have a personal issue with scenes being too dark to see in horror movies or games.. I dont want to look at a black screen.

Yeah, I understand you point perfectly since that can be a source of extreme frustration in games. If it was done right though, I would love even just one segment of traversing through a dark area with no music; just sounds every now and then as you traverse through puzzles and watch out for enemies. I think episode 4 may have a portion within the sewer system (based off the image for the episode) so that might be a very dark and creepy portion as well.

The game has had a great story, amazing character development, tragic and emotional moments, and disturbing revelations, but it hasn't had any real segments that would genuinely keep players on their toes and dread looking over the next corner. I think the last two episode will really embrace this aspect though and will serve as the true, haunting areas of the plot. I've changed my opinion about it being the primary focus of the episode however; one good segment or two would be perfect in my opinion.

Excellent idea. A city in moonlight would be a tremendous setting. Just enough light by which to fight and travel, but the tension of being able to see no more than, say, 30 feet would be almost unbearable.

i think for actuall gameplay where we have to do stuff no cos trying to find stuff would a bit hard even with hotspots active.

fine for cut scenes tho ;)

also dark levels in my opinion are used to cover up bad looking levels ;)

Have you considered the possibility that your screen isn't set at high enough brightness?

No offense, I've just known this to happen with folks from time to time.
