Lawsuits?

edited September 2012 in The Walking Dead
No, I'm not trying to organize a class action lawsuit against Telltale. I created this thread because I'm wondering if there are actually people out there who are really trying to find lawyers so they can sue a video game company over a release date.

So this is my question: Are you guys for real, or are you just trolling? Because if you're for real, I mean, stop. It's beyond stupid.

They seem to be writing it out of rage, wanting to troll, or pure idiocy. Most likely trolling so I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

No lawyer would take this case.

I wouldn't call it trolling when people do this. I'd call it helpless lashing out hoping for attention. If you say you got a working lawsuit and a refund, maybe someone who can afford a lawyer will actually do it because of your post.

It's just a bunch of hollow talk. Unless you have a lawyer on retainer - which you don't if you care this much about a video game - you can't afford to invest money to fight over thirty dollars.

Agreed on all counts. I'm asking because on the latest TT blog post, some brain trust is insisting in the comment section that he's already spoken to a lawyer who maintains that he has a really good shot at a false advertising claim.

True, Telltale's communication hasn't been the greatest, but their games are pretty unlike anything in the industry right now (at least with TWD) and I'd hate to see the company go down in flames just because we live in a country where we can sue literally anyone for everything.

99% of the time some random guy on the Internet is threatening to sue, it's meaningless. The same lawyers who would be willing to accept ridiculous cases like this will also be demanding a pretty big fee from their client (they're definitely not getting a cut of the damages they receive from winning, after all :p ). And the same people willing to get this mad over video games probably don't have a job that pays enough for them to hire said lawyers.

Also, games get delayed. It happens. Nobody ever sued 3D Realms or Valve for false advertising, and those are much bigger offenders than Telltale. Besides, they stopped saying "monthly episodes" after it became clear they wouldn't be monthly. If they kept promising monthly episodes after the fact, maybe there'd be grounds for false advertising, but right now it's just people bitching for the sake of bitching.

Probably not, since he's not a lawyer. But on the bright side, he won't try to have sex with you and knows to leave when things get awkward.

Too bad Doug didn't make that promise.
