Episode 4 introduction predictions.
I've been thinking for a while now, about Lee's past I mean. We all heard that the senator was killed by Lee and he said that it was an "accident". Not that I don't think that it could be the truth but I'm hoping that episode 4 starts with a flashback with us as Lee at UGA or whatever led up to the death of the senator and then would cut to the walking dead title card. What do you guys think?

I just don't know how well people would take that fact.
I suspect an "accident",killing in self defence or having been framed would be preferable to a lot of players.
Personally the latter scenarios would somewhat invalidate the redemption aspect I see in the games story. Why would Lee need redemption if he was some kind of a victim to begin with?
I think it's better if Telltale just give the bare details and let individual players fill in the blanks with what they feel comfortable with.Maybe players would feel a loss of control, for their Lee, if the details of his crime was confirmed by Telltale?
Wow I didn't think about it like that. You have a good point.
I always like backstories so I would be interested but it's not a necessity in this case.
What if your actions throughout the game affect what you did in the past? for instance if you went throughout the game spareing everyone it was a accident, and if you killed everyone and you were just a overall jerk you did it in a fit of rage?
Silent Hill: Downpour did this. In certain playthroughs, you were even innocent. It wasn't received well.
At the PAX Panel, they said that Lee's crime had the purpose of making sure that his first kill in the game would not be some large event. So I think that rules out accident and his innocence. Lee's crime was premeditated.
Interesting, but wouldn't that invalidate the possibility of someone's Lee doing a terrible thing but having a chance to not let that define the rest of his life.
I agree with LadyJ that certain crimes weigh differently to a variety of people but wouldn't that also mean that not everyone would feel sympathy for Lee losing it and murdering a man that slept with his wife?
What if Lee' crime of passion had meant he had killed his wife, because of her affair, and not her lover? I may be wrong but I suspect that sympathy for that Lee would be a lot lower.
I still prefer that Telltale keep Lee's crime a mystery, let the player decide what they want to believe.
What an interesting concept. I kinda like that...but I'm not the average gamer. I don't however think it would be a good idea to do that with TWD
Stop that !
Actually, I agree with you Farmer Joe....after I thought about it. I think the game is more playable with less details of Lee's crime before the ZA.
The writer in me says yes to that, but the curious fan in me says "Well, maybe a few details could be nice." I think it would be cool if how the crime happened was chosen by the player, like how Sir Fruitcake suggested. They have Lee choose to explain whether the crime was actually an accident or something much worse. Just dialogue though. We do not need any flashbacks.
Granted, one of the options while talking to Carley in Episode 2 hints that it may have been an accident and you can choose the tone of telling people in the group about your past. So I wonder how they will roll with that.
If those cannot work, then yes I am fine with it being open to interpretation.
