Will this game ruin any of the TV show at all?

edited October 2012 in The Walking Dead
I haven't seen any of the Walking Dead tv show- will playing this game ruin any surprises or moments from the TV show? Do you need to be familiar with the show to get some jokes/refrences?

(I like to go into things knowing NOTHING about them- I don't even watch movie trailers.)

thanks!

Well, there is one spoiler of the Walking Dead universe that is given away in the second episode of the game (season 2 finale in the show's chronology, issue 24 of the comic). You'll discover it naturally with a character in each incarnation, but I recommend the comic version's reveal.

Aside from that, they're totally different things and you can play the game, read the comic or watch the show in any order.

Kinda. Theres one part in episode 2 that may spoil something that happened in season 2 of the show. I don't really think it's a huge spoiler but others, including you, may.

Other than that I don't recall anything else that might spoil the show. Theres no references to the show i can think of either except the spoiler I am talking about.

    EDIT: beat me to it

Geesh I can't think of the reference you guys are referring to in game epi 2 that is a spoiler. I watched the show first, read the comics and then found the game. In my opinion they are all totally different experiences with positives and negatives. I too prefer not to watch trailers or have any advance knowledge. HTH

I enjoyed them all, read the comics, watched the show, played the game. Loved 'em all... just don't expect them to tune in to each other, they are the same, still different universes in a way... in a good way. ;)

Well, from the game you know a lot more about walkers then the TV cast does and some of the people you met in the game you may not recognize in the tv show. Places and people will look different is all but I don't think the game follows the tv show close enough to ruin any of the tv show.

I've only seen the tv show and then played the game.:)

It's something that Ben says after you rescue him in Episode 2 that may be a spoiler for the show and the comic. Other than that, the game and the show/comic star very different characters, not counting the cameos by two of the characters from the comics/show in the first Episode of the game. That won't spoil what goes on with those two characters after they leave the game, and actually provides a bit of backstory so you might understand them a bit better once you see them in the comic/show.

My cousin has never heard of The Walking Dead before this game and has never run into anything that stumbled him. Also why don't you watch movie trailers? You could walk into a movie expecting it to be a action / thriller and it ends up being a romantic comedy. Huh? Huh? Huh? Yeah huh?

Yes a big suprise for the end of s2 would be spoilt in episode 2 of this game.

What did Ben say that referred to Season 2? If someone could put a spoiler tag over it, so I could see it, that'd be nice.

Getting bitten doesn't turn you, everyone is already infected

Sure, but Little Miss Bubble who started this would probably freak out if I told him there were zombies in the game.

I mean it does keep us wondering for a while what the Dr at the CDC said to Rick and why Randall and Shane turned when there were no bites on them

Very true Freshking I've met many people shocked by what you mentioned, I assume the OP hasn't read the comics so it all will come as a big shock to them.

LOL aye. You may have a point.

As to the actual 'reveal' I have my own theories about that for the show. There isn't a TWD show thread around here is there?

Not at all. Game is completely different to tv series and in someways, tons better!

No, except for Glenn and Hershel being in both, they dont intersect at all.

    In what way?

Think. You could sit there refreshing the marketplace or waiting for a update but then when the game comes out you're going to be really tired and probably misread and hear stuff.

Once again OP it does ruin a big part of seasons 2's shocking ending, do not listen to the people who say differently.
