If the Zombie Apocalypse starts...TODAY!
If the Zombie Apocalypse starts today or let's say tomorrow...if there's like this huge zombie virus outbreak in your country and in your city or wherever you live...are you ready to face the hordes of hungry and bloodthirsty zombies? What are the defensive measures you'll take right now?How would you spend the night?
Do you have enough supplies to stay in the house for a few days?
I'll reply after you guys post first!

Taking someone to dinner or shopping aren't my way.

Anyway,if the zombie apocalypse started today...I'd definetely lock the door and close all windows to keep it dark.I'd probably use my mom's Glock 17(which is also the weapon mostly featured in The Walking Dead game),I also have a katana and a baseball but as well as some knives but seriously, who'd want to fight zombies with melee weapons?I wouldn't want to get close to zombies!
I also have about 2-3 luncheon meat cans and a few tuna cans as well as some other food that would last for a few days probably. Some batteries and a few flashlighties and many candles.
But I would have to go out sooner or later in search of more food and other stuff!
I personally would avoid going out and scavenging for supplies during the first wave of attacks. I live pretty near a shopping center, full of supplies but full of potentially infected people too.
As long as I wasn't on campus when it hit, I think I could make it for a while.
Moreover there is an island near to me, which has 1 bridge only, so it can be as secondary way out. All the townhouses in this area have connected roofs, so I can use them for moving around safely. The only problem is water, considering that closest water source is a few kilometers away...
Hell of a way to start (or finish? lol) the day! You alright?
My husband and I both make our living online, so we don't have to worry about sick co-workers or traffic accidents. Both pluses, in my opinion
However, we have a small child and a "hunting dog" that loves everything but chickens and other dogs and is terrified of water. (IE: He's not going to be much use lol.) So we'd need more supplies than some families.
We have a lot of family in the area, and friends, and all of us know how to hunt or fish or both, along with some other basic "survival" skills.
Not sure what we'd do tonight. If I had it entirely my way, we'd probably all go to my parents' house, which is the largest, bring the supplies we have so we're all well stocked, and wait a week or two until most people were dead or hiding, then go raid and fortify either the Home Depot (preferably. The one here has a bit more than the) or the Lowes. Both have a lot of quiet weapons, building materials, and even food-bearing plants.
You have guns and stuff or...are you going like the kids go "if there was a zombie apocalypse i would pawn them with my super-machine gun which i'd find from the army that would be dead but i would super-kick the zombies with my karate kick and then grab a chainsaw and kill 100 of them and then..." ???
Know what I mean? :P
We're 3 people, tap water is not really drinkable, and we've got 16 liters of drinking water.
Have some quite a lot of canned goods though.
We have no supplies or canned goods in my house
Not many guns in Scotland and no weapons at all in house
No military training and I live in a city in between the two largest cities in Scotland.
My only advantage is that I live literally right next to a castle, so I would take my family there and hope for the best.
Oh no, it's in a safe over there. A few yards away. The hard part would be finding the autoloader, I'm not EXACTLY sure where it is.
"Dude are you biten?"
"No."
"Ok cool, come over here and bring what food you got"
"But I've got family!"
"Oh....are they biten?"
"No."
"Ok,don't bring them, the house is small already."
Or if he was biten
"Yo,whazzup?"
"Some crazy old guy bit me at the street.Hello? Are you there...?"
Shitty.
Could you imagine, a car accident on Z-day, getting out of your vehicle and the other driver's your first zombie? Do you wait for the authorities or pull a hit and run?
And you probably won't find a buddy like Andy from Dawn of the Dead 2004(one of my most favorite zombie movies).
And I have to say this, slow zombies are not less dangerous than the fast ones. They have a....unique way of surrounding you without knowing it.Really! In Dead Rising 2 and Trapped Dead you can see that happening.Plus when they get to one place like in Night of the Living Dead(I personally love the 1990 remake)they start banging the whole house badly.
In truth about a month after I read the comics and was totally hooked on TWD universe, I was at the casino.....out of the blue in my brain I think, "Shit this is the WORST place to be if a ZA happens right now". The casino had a hotel which MIGHT have been good or bad.....those places are designed like labyrinths anyways dang near impossible to get out even without zombies! It was followed by driving home planning how I would escape, get to my house which is roughly 15 miles from there if it happened right then.
I imagined the highway I was on would be pretty quickly shutdown and I would have to walk SOMEHOW out in the open that whole distance. No place near there is what I would call safe and it is all open grassy area with no trees. THAT is my worst fear. (notwithstanding that I realize zombies are an incredible unlikelihood)
If I were at MY house, I'd be dead for sure. We only have 1 gun with 3 bullets and hardly any caned foods.
I have those exact same thoughts when I'm in school. During a slow study hall, or lunch period I begin thinking "How could I fortify this place if I were caught here during the ZA?" Our woodshop has all manner of pointy tools, and I even saw a few crowbars so I won't be lacking for weapons if I get there quickly enough. Then again, surviving on school lunches for the next 60 years of my life sounds worse than becoming a walker...
Well, what I would ACTUALLY do if the ZA were to happen would be to rob the gas station just down the block (of food, not money). They have all manner of snack foods there which, while not the healthiest, would get us by for awhile. Kind of important, considering all we have for food right now is a loaf of bread and five boxes of Mac n Cheese. Then my parents, myself, and both of my cats would pile into our car and head out of town. Since our town is on the smaller side, it shouldn't be immensely difficult. We live in Iowa, right in the middle of the US, so a boat is out of the question. We would probably head to my uncle's house, who lives out in the country on a farm similar to Hershel's. Barring him hiding zombies in the barn, if we get there we should be in good shape. He has his own arsenal of guns, at least 20, which we can add to the four or five we already keep in my house. Then we just sit tight until the military rolls through and cleans it up, or until staying is no longer an option and we have to relocate.
Imagine a car (the only one around as it was a public holiday over here) in front of you, indicating left, changing lanes, and then 5 meters in front of you, indicating right, pulling over and breaking ('cause she saw a parking space - whyever she changed the lane looking to park)... fucking no chance at 60 kmh (roughly 40 mph) ... proud enough I didn't kill that cat... erm... car.
Edit: Indication errors around...
I would so totally use that. There's nothing more romantic than being a gritty hero while the dead are walking!
Man, if I could save just that one girl from her undead flatmates....! Better than a box o chocs any day!
Anyway, I'm recently in accomodation at Uni and I have to say that my particular area is pretty well guarded.
Only 2 entrances, both can be locked with durable, heavy gates. Tough windows won't break under walker bashing or gun shots, like gates.
We got a laundry inside the locked-in courtyard and a car park just outside near a road. Easy living and easy escape.
Full of students--we know how to scrounge food by now! (plus, I'm an explorer scout so I have extra knowledge)
My first act would be to save my crush from her poorly-defended accomodation area along with other survivors. The first week would make local supermarkets dangerously crowded so I'll have scavenge parties go there after it's died down....literally.
From there on, just focus on those few particular people I want to stay with and when it all goes to hell (which it will: paranoia, potential bandits, mutiny e.t.c.) then those are the people I'll escape with.
Oh, and any (probably) recently-orphaned young girl named after a fruit I find will be taken care of along the way.
as for protection, well i do collect lots of swords anybody need any swords?
How's that for a slice of fried gold?
You forgot to kill Phillip first.
Doesn't Michonne break into your house after you die and take your swords?
The only problem I'd have is I live in a tiny village with sweet FA for amenities.
I wouldn't have to do any of that if it happened in my country/city/where i live. I'm on Holidays in another country.
