I didn't end up saving him but I felt terrible for it afterwards. Oh well, in my playthrough, there's no rewinding. :(

Only saw a stream where someone didn't save him but I will when I end up playing it for myself. I felt sad afterword especially when Clem talked about him.

Yes, I saved him. He's just a scared teenager, there was no reason to let him die. Who knows, he may eventually prove himself.

like your optimism but he hasnt helped us at all in the past episodes. He didnt even try to save clem in the begining of episode 4 and kenny would have killed him if we didnt. He had plenty of times to prove himself but just didnt and he deserved to die.

I saved him. I hate the kid, but when it came down to letting go of his hand and letting him die when I knew I could save him, I just couldn't justify the murder to myself.

He doesn't have a bad heart, but he's too stupid. Not forgiving him for all of what he caused in episode 3. Have to admit though, when the moment came I started to panic and had to pause to think it through. I felt pretty bad when I let him die. I don't think he deserved to die, but I wasn't/am not going to forgive him for causing Carley, Katjaa, and Duck's deaths.
And while Carley probably wouldn't have wanted to have me let Ben die because she died defending him, I just thought of avenging her atm, haha. In the end, he wasn't a bad kid.
Felt bad afterwards, especially with how Clementine was upset.

Naive Kid, but at least he told the group. He could've hid it and for all we knew we would never know who was the traitor.

Naive, but honest. We'll work on the Naivete :D

I didn't end up saving Ben, but I thought real hard when deciding. I figured Ben has a fixed way of trouble following him where ever he goes, think about it Ben was there when Travis and his dad died, caused Carley's/Doug's inevitable death by making the choice to supply the Bandits which also led to Katjaa and Duck's death, left Clementine alone at the beginning of Ep.4, and took the hatchet that was bracing the door in Crawford from the zombies. Sure I really liked Ben but when it came to letting him die I had to. It was his dying wish and I figured Ben was sort of a screw up ever since I met him, and I had to decide to let him die an honorable death or bring him back with me so Kenny can deal with him for the emotional pain that he brought upon him and most likely leave him stranded alone while he drives off in the boat or worst case scenario Kenny even killing him. I also thought how could a person deny anothers dying wish in the current messed up world that they are living in. Ben's last dying words really tore me up inside but in the end it is a Zombie Apocalypse, some people are just going to have to die and some will live.

I didn't let Ben die. That would pretty much mean Lee killed him. Even though he is stupid, his heart is in the right place. Plus, I convinced him to come help find Clem, so he can prove himself. I thought I made the right decision:)

Same here. I couldn't bring myself to disappoint Clem. I had to rewind.

He is not a dick or anything he is just idiot and impotent. I won't directly kill idiot and impotent people so I saved him.

It's not a logical choice but I knew what I was doing

I was never mad at him for what he done. My first time playing: I will save him.
Now I'm going to play again and see what happens if I let him die. Lol

Saved him. Unlike Larry and Duck, there's no real reason to kill him. Carley died because she insulted psycho Lilly, Duck died because Katjaa took more than enough time to start running in the motel and Katjaa killed herself. The only person who he kinda killed was Brie.

No. I don't hate him or anything, but I didn't want to risk the safety of the rest of the group (including Clem) by wasting precious seconds pulling him up - especially as he was telling me to let go.

Of course, hindsight is 20/20. If I'd known saving him wasn't going to result in the death of somebody else then I'd have done so, but at the time I couldn't risk it.

I resolved to kill whoever was responsible for giving supplies to the bandits, and I would have done so if the game had allowed me to push Ben off the train. Unfortunately, it didn't. So I thought I would give him another chance. And he kept screwing up in this episode too. So when the decision had to be made, I chose not to save him. He was a liability.

Yes, because I'm not from Crawford. xd

I saved Ben in my first playthrough, the reason being that no matter how stupid you are is that we won't survive with few people.

Then I rewinded & I killed Ben, kind of regretting it afterwards.

    Saved Ben.

    Two reasons

    1. Killing him would bring Lee down to what Crawford was.
    2. Clementine

I saved Ben. As pissed as I was that he couldn't keep his mouth shut, at least he felt guilty and was willing to sacrifice himself when the time came. I figure he's blacked out some of the red in his ledger.

But that hatchet thing was REALLY stupid.

Ben is actually useful this episode, but he still make some really dumb things! But i saved him, if someone have to kill him, i should be Kenny

You can't say that lee would be the same as Crawford. If you kill Ben you do it for Kenny or for Ben's own sake. Ben actually wants to die when you got the opportunity, and we are living in an ending world. Why then not put him out of his misery???

I Saved him, and by telling him that he owe Clem his help, he gets the motivation to keep living...

I actually liked the idea of Crawford. I've read the Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z by Max Brooks, and I know you have to be strict and regimented to survive as a group. I definitely wouldn't abandon the elderly though, they would still be useful in terms of cooking food and making things for the group, while the young and fit go out scavenging. And children are the future, you definitely can't get rid of them. So those two things were dumb.

Clem liked Ben, but that is because she is a kid and kids are often wrong about people. She defended the guy on the radio too, and we know he's a psycho. Ben has demonstrated time and time again that he is useless and can't be trusted. If I had the chance I would have killed him as soon as he admitted to being the guy who gave supplies to the bandits. His actions since then (running away when Clem was attacked, not watching Clem despite Lee asking him to do so, taking the axe out of the door) have shown that he can't be trusted. I wouldn't have killed him in cold blood, but choosing not to save him from the zombie was good enough for me.

I saved Ben, We need everybody we can get.
Sure he fucks up alot..... but he tries to help.
He really really really fucks up alot....

Noone that can be saved, will be left behind. He atleast tries...

I think Kenny was going to kill him anyway so i let him die :(

    Saved him.

Sure he's stupid and naive but his hearts in the right place. I'm not going to kill a kid for being stupid and making mistakes. If I had the option to leave him with some supplies, then maybe, but never kill him.

I let him die when zombie got him in the tower. I was shocked when everybody somehow knew that I left him to die, because nobody saw that, like they had x-ray vision or something...
  • edited October 2012
    I let he live. Why?

Letting him suffer with his consequences rather than having him being offered to the zombies, and regarded as some hero. Plus, it's always good to have another pair of hands.

When I dropped Ben I figured he would of died from the fall but he was still alive... It was painful for me to hear his yelling when the walkers were tearing him apart.
  • edited October 2012
    I let him drop because:

    1. Kenny wanted me to (not really a big influence, but it helped a little)
    2. Ben wanted me to do it (huge influence)
    3. I didn't think it was possible to save him.

If I had known it was ACTUALLY possible to save him at the time, without endangering the others, I most likely would have pulled him up. I thought he was dead no matter what when I first got there, froze up for a bit, and finally let go. Hearing his screams was horrific enough to make me consider rewinding and saving him, at least so I could feel that it wasn't my fault if he died anyway. I felt like a real piece of trash when I found out he would have lived, had you pulled him up.

I saved Ben because I didn't think he wanted to die but that he felt that he deserved to die and that made a difference for me.Yes Ben is a fuck up but his actions aren't malicious and in the end he showed real bravery and heart when he was willing to do the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of the group.Kenny giving the nod only confirmed my decision, Fuck you Kenny! I wont kill a scared and naive kid for you.
I've seen his death, and I don't think he deserves to die like that...
He hoped the fall would kill him but instead he gets his legs and back broken and then gets ripped apart by the walkers, his final screams for help confirm to me that he didn't truly want to die. He wanted to be punished but that was a crueler fate than he deserved, I wanted Ben to leave the group alive not die in agony.

I saved him but I still didn't trust him enough to bring him along at the end. I wonder if it will matter? will players be punished because he fucks up again or will he reward them by doing something heroic?

First time through, I let him die because he wanted me to drop him.

Felt bad about it afterwards so I rewinded and saved him. He's a good kid who makes bad decisions. Really, really life threatening horribly bad decisions but meh. It felt better having everyone available to me at the end of the episode.
