The Videotapes make absolutely NO sense

edited October 2012 in The Walking Dead
So I thought, is this just an oversight or flawed logic on Telltales writers part?

On the first tape with Anna Dr. Logan explains why he records the appointment. He says that it's a regulation by Oberson to record all consultations.

Ok I get that part. Obviously Crawfords Leader was tough on everyone obeying the rules etc. and he wanted to also check on his medical personal/medical supplies etc. Makes perfect sense.

BUT: On Tape 3 (The Molly lockertape) why the hell did he start the recording AS he was closing his zipper infront of the camera, talking about how it was fun, but that he has to stop the arrangement to not get caught?

And then gives her medicine for Mollys sister for a last time.
Just doesn't make any sense.

    Heres what I think.
He recorded it since he wouldn't be able to get some anymore.
The video starts at the zipping up because the guy had already finished watching it, but wasn't kind and didn't rewind.

I assumed it was a sex tape. Old dude like that with a fine young girl like Molly, not surprising he'd want to capture and re-live the experience. Especially since their 'arrangement' was coming to an end. Also makes sense that he'd keep it in his locker, away from all the other tapes.

Catching a glimpse of some freaky, post-apocalyptic infirmary sex would've been nice, but hey, what can you do? All of the tapes only show the material pertinent to the overall story. Unless all video cassette tapes in TWD universe are only 30 seconds long. :D

I thought this too. Secret porn stash! c: (Like, if he just didn't want people to know of the tape's existence, he could have destroyed the tape.)

Though, I don't know why he would keep the tape in his workplace. Odd man. :P

Sextape would have made sense... but still I think it doesn't make sense the way the tape started.
    There is only 1 explanation..
He recorded the entire session.. Sex+the talk afterwards and it was never intended to be seen by Oberson. It was just his little sex film.

This doesn't make sense however since a) Lee would have obviously watched the tape from the beginning and b) when you pay attention how the tape starts the doctor stands far away from Molly, directly infront of the camcorder facing the wall. If this was the middle of the video, why would he go there, face the wall, and inch away from the camcorder just to close his zipper?

He might have a strange fetish that I kinda don't want to discuss.

I assume it was the classic case of accidentally hitting record when the camera is on and hitting it again when trying to turn it off

so, he really meant to shut it off when he was zipping up, but actually turned it on : p

^Now this makes sense. That's the only explanation.

I think it was like that maggot said, he was looking out for himself. He almost got caught during an inventory of the medicine. He probably made the video as proof that he ended the deal and could even give up Molly's sister, which he probably did later on, if later he did get caught.

Or worse yet, he made the recording to betray Molly and collect some reward for finding and eliminating a potential risk to Crawford....Molly's sister. Isn't this how these totalitarian systems work?

I'm here to confirm that Acadias got it spot on. The idea is that the tape had been watched before. Had Lee been tasteless enough to hit the rewind button, he would have seen a whole lot more.

But who says my Lee isn't that tasteless? It should have been an option. A moment where you can discover your true Lee. Learn your char more... :p

By the way, when the doctor got stabbed with a knife, why his first thought was: "I must immediately get this videotape and put it in my pocket"? What did he need it for?

Well before Nick I would had said that perhaps some "blowing in the wind" just happen, but after reading the answer from Nick I can "blow" that sentence with a kiss away ;) :D

I was wondering the same. Maybe he thought if it was left in the camcorder no one would check the tape quickly. But if it was on his dead body it would be seen immediately and thus would reveal that it was Anna who stabbed him

The other thing is, that Anna must survive it and will appear in episode 5 or ? I mean we didn't saw a zombie who looked like her or had found any other evidence that she is dead.

We never saw Lilly turn into a zombie or have found any evidence that she is dead, but we haven't see her come back, and she likely won't.

I think it's pretty obvious what tape 3 was all about.

That's because she lives and in the comics we learn exactly where she goes and what she does.

Here's what I don't get. Why was it numbered 3 if they were sequential? There couldn't have been a third if the Doc is out of the picture by the 2nd. That's what I don't understand.
  • edited October 2012
the molly tape is just the 3rd tape you get, its not the third in the series

the tapes are dated by ddays after the outbreak, i believe the first 2 are 81 and 82, while the molly tape is 76 or something

i remember thinking, wow Molly's last appointment was less than a week before Crawford was overrun? you would think she would try one last attempt to steal some medicine and would have seen what had happened

on another note about the last tape, you see Doc Logan swiping the front of the camera when it shuts off in the last when hes on the ground
the video camera wasnt even knocked over when you found it... so he carefully opened the camera and put the tape in his pocket?
also, the thing about him taking the tape so people would know who murdered him doesnt make sense, since you can hear gunshots going off after the women leaves

I could have sworn I saw an 83 on that one. Will go back and look again. I'm old. I don't see so good ;)
