Brie, the door, other things.(rant-ish)

edited October 2012 in The Walking Dead
Ok seriously, what's up with killing the slightly overweight or heavier people ? I mean, Doug died unfortunately for a lost cause, as that idiot Ben is the reason everything went to hell. Although I disliked Brie initially (I guess I can see her caution), she seemed resourceful enough, and "manned up" to take care of the door while the idiot decided it was a GREAT time to talk about what he did.

They're not dying in the stereotypical manner, just because someone is fat doesn't mean they cant keep up with the group, I just REALLY want to know. I don't care much for Christa honestly. Molly was pretty bad-ass, but seemed a bit on the thin side to be pulling adults up in the manner she does. I know she is athletic, but that doesn't mean she's necessarily muscular.

Regardless, this is the first game to make me "feel" something in a very long while for the characters and the situations. The highlight for me being the entire Crawford mission, especially the "escape" in the tower.... and yes for some strange reason I saved Ben. Why ? Maybe I'm just an idiot too.

Love the game by the way. Still, would be great to see some large characters actually LIVE through the game and not get killed because of some kid. Damn I should have let Ben die..

Also Charles, man, I really did feel bad about that. He saved Clem when I couldn't and handled those walkers valiantly.... ugh man..

Actually, she was the contest winner that had to die... So...

Survival of the fittest I guess, haha.
Plenty of non-overweight ppl die as well, just look at all the walkers, most of them don't seem to have been overweight.
So these overweight ppl have made it a lot farther than the non-overweight walkers I'd say. And I'd say there are more overweight americans than are represented as walkers (well maybe they just cant walk anymore, haha). So actually this game is discriminating against normal weighing persons and not the other way around.

I just want to have more diversity in the group... well nvm this isnt like other games, regardless of their sizes, all the characters seem to have their own unique looks/personality. Any time I see something that is not necessarily the "norm" in video games, such as a kid, or elder, overweight, indian, etc., it always shows me how far along games have come. I think I just get too excited lol.

To me Carlee and Molly's character types are often used in gaming/media. Nice to see a change.

Anyone who preordered the game had a chance to get selected to be a survivor and then a zombie in the game.

Or something like that, my mistake if im wrong.

yeah this thread is kind of pointless now:(

Looking back, that contest seems a little...mean.

OK, so they made it clear from the start that the winner would die and become a zombie. The real-life Brie knew that part was coming, at least. But did they have to give her cancer too? :p

How do you know the real-life Brie doesn't have cancer?

I would be happy if I got that role for winning, she was a fairly fleshed out character compared to how these kind of competitions usually go.

lol Honestly, I don't think fat people would exist in the ZA. Zombies can't run, but some walk fast so you're going to get some cardio in regardless, which is great at burning fat. Also, there's not enough food to pig out.

I laughed my ass off when she said "Don't we get to vote?" and then dies.

    I was like,"No, you don't!"

Just because they're fat doesn't mean they pig out on a daily basis. But beyond that, I don't think that's true, especially for Doug/Brie sized people, unless you need to constantly sprint for a mile, which is hard for the normal person, thin, average, or overweight, any sized person can survive in harsh situations.

If you're obese, in the sense of 400 or above, there will be obvious implications however. If you can't generally jog/run down a normal hotel hallway, or up 1-3 flights of stairs, then yeah there will be a problem I think. Most ZA groups always find a shelter, so unless you're going to "rough it" and sleep out in the open, willingly run close to zombies etc., There shouldn't be a situation where 8+ hours a day you NEED to run.

That guy in zombieland was an idiot, how do you get into a football field by YOURSELF? I won't discredit cardio/strength though, in that situation, living for weeks/months/years, a thin person would probably become stronger physically, a bit more heavier/muscular, while a fat person thinner/muscular.

Now this is funny!! Good one....:D

As far as fat (or should I say overweight) people go, if you cannot run 1 or two miles and still hunker down in a house for months and don't work out inside to fix yourself....your slow butt would die in my group. If you were big at the onset I would do what I could, but after 3-6 months....you're on your own if you can't keep up.

By the way, the cheese, I mean Brie was supposedly in remission of cancer with the rest of the group, she wasn't currently dying of it.
